I'd like to record all the movements the player and AI makes (all their actions and shots and the events of the game) so I can play that back.

For instance, in all pc versions of doom and quake you could record demos.

How do I do this? Does FPSC allow this level of scripting/control? Can I have full control of this demo capability? Ultimately, I'd like to be able to record a players movements and then play it back AND let the player watching it still move around freely and possibly even interact still (even if it interrupted/broke the recording to the point that the first recorded player is now dead or walking into a wall).

Thanks,
-Destroy

From what I can gather, it appears that I might be able to do it with a trigger or story zone that would run a script, perhaps as soon as the level starts. And that script would run in the background the whole level monitoring every action?

Not possible.

May I ask why you want to do this?

Because recording what the player does and playing it back is cool. Even if it's only to show an opening demo of a player in the game. Games have been doing this for years.

If you are wanting to capture screen action for a demo (or even a story zone), then you should download one of the free screen capture software packages. Once you install it, run it, then run whatever level you want a demo of. Once done, edit the recorded video.

Thanks Leon. But that's not the functionality I'm looking for. I think I'll end up doing it in Dark Basic Pro or DarkGDK. I want the player to be able to record in game demos and interact with those.
