Toasty: SamHH is correct. Sorry, these Packs will be released as "Fan Packs", for Non-Comercial use only!

LAST CALL! If there is anyone else interested in contributing to this Fan Pack, please send me an e-mail and let me know something soon.

I would like to include a facehugger to the pack, the model and textures are done but it needs to be rigged and animated. Something similar to Rolfy's Spiders would be great.

And if some one could come up with a cool script for the Alien Warrior, That would be fantastic. It's rigged to the standard FPSC biped. (Thanks Darmic!) It would be great if it could be set up to use the crouching walk, run and a slashing attack based on the grenade throw or something.

Please contact me if you can help out on this project. I will send you any files you need. credit will of coarse be given to all contributors.

Contributors so far: "ErrentAI", "Henry Ham" (Pulse Rifle), "Darmic" (The Alien Warrior), and "Fallen One" ( LV-426 Skybox), "The Cosmic Prophet"(All other models and media).

Many thanks to these fine developers.

Thanks. TCP

CP, before you go getting all happy about the aliens project you got going on you need to stop by H.R Giegers website and kick him an email and ask if you can use his designs, after all he did design the aliens set..

Reality Forgotten: Thanks for your concern. H.R. Giger designed the alien creature, and the facehugger in the first film. The copyright for all the films after the first one, is owned by Brandywine, which is the production co. owned by Sigourney Weaver, and was released in the U.S. in conjunction with 20th Century Fox who carries the U.S. franchise. As each film was released, several Alien creatures were created based on Giger's initial design by Stan Winston and the L.A. Effects Group. What I'm doing here is no different than you drawing an Alien character, and giving it to your friend. As long as I'm not "selling" it as a product of my own creation, but rather a "free representaion of it", I am not in violation of the copyright. Although, By law I must include this fact within the license of the model pack, as well as the name of the actual owner of the copyright. IE. Brandywine Studios. I must also include the "For non-commercial use" disclaimer. Official licensing is purchased by companies, or individuals who stand to make a proffit from the work. I am not. This license will be included in the final download.

There are dozens of film based 3D models, and artworks available online to anyone who wants them. Those who are proffiting from these works can only charge a fee for the time and effort that went into creating the piece, not the creation of the object represented by the piece. Again, I am not. I've been dealing with the issues of copyrights for over 20 years now, I own several myself, and I'm well aware of the penalties of copyright infringment.

Once Again, This pack will be "free of charge", for the creation of non-proffit fan based games only! I hope this clears things up for those who are concerned.

I always do my homework.

Thanks again. TCP

Hmmm, I understand stuff like character and vehicle designs are under copyright law, but what about stuff like those machines and structures you have kicking about there? Is every single model in this pack completely tabooed for non-commercial use?

coffeegrunt: NO!, Unfortunately, all the structures were built using photo references from the film, and blues from the USMC tech manual. The hallway segments, and some of the other misc. props on the other hand, are only close representations of the actual sets. You are more than welcome to use those any way you like. As you pointed out, only the vehicles, characters, and a few of the buldings will have the non-commercial restrictions. These objects will be detailed in the license. I did it this way so that folks could use many of the items in the pack for commercial projects as well. Again, all these items will be listed in the license.

As always, you can do what you want with them. Revamp the models, change textures, whatever.

Thanks.

I've emailed fox for the lowdown on the copyright info, as soon as I receive word back I will post it here for you. I'm not here to start a fight; I have seen people get in to trouble on these forums for a lot less..

Reality Forgotten: No offense taken. I too have e-mailed Mr. Jon Del Barrio at the Fox Broadcasting Company to get the lowdown on the distribution of free non-proffit film based material. I too am waiting for his reply before I release the pack for download. I'm not "that" stupid. As I said, I'm well aware of the procedures involved with the distribution of certain media. If all goes well, I should be able to release this pack some time next week. If not, I will still release the non copyrighted material in a revised sci-fi themed model pack.

Again, thanks for your concern in this matter.

I agree. There are literally hundreds of fan films, stories, Parodies, garage kits, prop replicas, and game mods all based on the Aliens movies that are freely available online. Surely all of these individuals do not own or have purchased media rights for they're work on these sites, and for the media they produce, yet openly avoid prosicution of copyright infringement. This is true of many other films as well. The act of establishing a fan site in general that posts images, movie clips, sounds, etc. based on any motion picture steps boldly inside this realm. They of coarse contain disclaimers of media ownership, and provide info of the actual property rights.

If this issue can be resolved, it will open many doors for the creation of fan based media for all the developers here, and hopefully we will see more of these types of projects in the future.

In the Universe, nothing ever stays the same.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The pack is finnished, but I'm still waiting to hear back from FOX Broadcasting Co. I've already applied for the "Use of intelectual rights" on the pack, but have not heard back from them yet.

Either way, as I stated above, I will release the non-licensed material for everyone to use by the end of the week. So stay Tuned...

Darmic: I need to send you some stuff, could you send me your e-mail address?

daarboven; Sounds great, Let's see how this project pans out first. If all goes well, I will apply for useage rights for that next.

Screens look awesome.

If the INDUCE Act had had passed, then yes, this pack would be a no-no. S.3325 might have some impact but that is in limbo for now.

Don't hold your collective breath for a reply from Fox. I'd think it puts them in an awkaward position to say either yes or no to something like this.

I know what you mean. And with the new "Aliens Colonial Marines" soon to be released in collaboeration with Gearbox, it may burn and crash. The good folks at "AVP Galaxy" have offered to support the creation of the Aliens game I'm building, but again we'll have to see how it goes.

Friend of mine was hired on as a producer for ACM at the first (or second?) developer which had the title three or so years ago. Then it got cancelled less than a month later and he was looking for work again. He got a super-sweet USCMC T-Shirt though without any Fox/franchise markings on it. Man, was I jealous! I hope Gearbox can actually deliver because to me that's much more interesting than the AVP concept.

What I really want to see though is a film or game following the Earth War saga from the Dark Horse comics. The first 10 minutes of Alien3 had me in raving fits! Actually, I have to say AVP2 was a much better successor to Aliens than Alien3 or 4.

BTW, emailing you in a few

Totally! Check out "AVP Galaxy" They've got a few incredible in-game screeshots. It looks every bit as good as DOOM 3.

Here is the skybox for Blade Runner, I was inspired by the Tyrell buildings, so I did my own version, my first skybox had a yellow sky, but as most people think of Blade Runner as being at night, though their are several scenes in the movie with a yellow and red smog haze, but most will associate the film with a dark sky, so I painted in the black we see in the top of the image, when I transfer them onto the skybox cube 'Ill see which looks best in game, and choose which one looks best.

I'm pleased with how these have come out, Ill add these 'if' I see some good stuff made for a Blade Runner pack, must have a working Deckard Blaster, otherwise its no fun. Ill be interested in seeing what comes up.

Ill post some in game shots when I get a moment.

Oh yea, someone bump this as well, Ive just been noob slapped yet again, starting yesterday, for a post I made, wait for it, 3 weeks ago.
