its my first try for a kick butt fps ever scince i made ICED 3....
Right now, i've got the graphics thing going(muzzel flashes, REAL GUNS, bullets that you can't see,etc.), and i've come up with a real nice collection of function and gosubs. But now i'll need some help from you guys. How should i do the HUD? Doom style? Quake? Should i have one at all?

You'll be able to test it....At the start, You'll have to press 2 to use the atomiser, a rapid fire machine-gun that hits any thing on the screen(if its withn a certain range and you aren't to close). My shotgun doesn't work, and i'm trying to get it testable.

I know i'll need a skybox, the homemade one i was using sucked, so i took it out.And......There is a known glitchbug. if you shoot with the atommizer the aliens will decrese in health rapidly; its supposed to wait a while before they can get hit again....

Tell me any thing that sucks, give some feedback, PLEASE.

Oh..if you need more bullets(which i doubt)you can go straight outside the moutains and find twopacks.

I'm gonna add the basic stuff like alien blood for when you shoot them and hurt fog....

Input:
The aliens should not be able to stack on top of eachother. They charged me in a group, but then I ran away, and when I turned around, I saw one alien. I killed it, and they all died. I'm basically positive they were stacked on eachother.

Grey fog would be nicer I think, with it slightly closer. (current-500?)

Jumping is a must I feel. I can't stand games where I can't jump. It may just be me however.

I can see you have gotten even better with DBC. It's looking pretty cool!

I know I've heard it before, but what's HUD?

A hud is where and how you put status like....health,ammo,guns and keys. i was wondering how it should look,and where it should be....

P.s...i guess the yellow fog won't do eh? I was going for a swamp-type setting. you are probly right, i think gray might look better.

If you are doing a swamp setting, try to add some greenish water, that will make it look more, swampish.

Build 2. no jumping as of yet - i'm cleaning it up.

---- New features -----

Guns
1 = ShotGun - Buggy, but useful enough
2 = Atomizer Machine Gun - Fixed some bugs and made it cleaner
3 = Plasma Gun - No Bugs and cool graphics

Respectable AI - Will explain below
Ammo boost - Placed conveniently to your right at the start
New creatures - Spiders, also know known as Hivebrains
level collision - nice and smooth


The AI is simple. just dont let any monster get close - or your life will dec rapidly. the monsters wont attack you until you get close to that first mountain in the distance....

Awesome updates!

I love those spider guys. I want more.

The fog is kind of bright. Maybe make it a bit darker.

The Plasma gun is really cool.

The AI is a good update.

That was sick. I killed off a bunch, then I went to find more foes, and those BloodHounds were right behind me! Yipes! That was cool. Really good AI. I love those spider guys... Have they gotten bigger?

More enemies! More enemiesssssss


I want more to fight.

The gun's explosion is pretty good.

It's pretty darned strong though...

The fog is great.

Yes, i scaled them a bit bigger.

Thanks! well, the version i've got now has an actual missle and a real explosion. it also has an enemy that can shoot at you.

I like this.

The animations on some of the monsters would benifit alot from being faster... they seem a little slow.

I was happy to see that I couldn't walk right up the side of steep matrixes, but yet I COULD slowly climb a smaller incline, that's awesome

Overall, really nicely done.

I liked the text being written out at the start, but I would suggest that if you press a button, that it fastforwards to the end of the line, cuz it was a little slow sometimes.

You've put a lot of thought into this, the inclines as codemaster said and the fact you don't see where the monsters appear from are good touches.
I agree that you need some indication of when the monsters are hit maybe a blood splash.
I'd be happy for you to join the DarkNOOBS team next project if you want in. We're taking a break after finishing Furious Pickaxe but BN2 has set an individual challenge, the results of which we'll base the next team on. Take a look at the Noobs Wanted thread.

A small program that works is better than a large one that doesn't.

It would be nice to show which weapon is currently selected, say like have some graphics of the weapons with numbers next to them (the number that you press to switch to that weapon) and the one selected being lit up by a highlight. Like this:



Although, obviously use graphics instead of ASCII art

Alternatively you could use Duke Nukem 3D type HUD (see screenshot):

Even something as simple as large green (something like rgb(0,128,0) ) ghosted plain that moved slightly would look a bit like water - see the "room" project by Lee Bamber, in your myproj folder.
