READ THIS, YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

First, I'd like to say that some of you "ned too wurk on yur gramer". Okay enough said...

I use a pirated copy of Dark Basic v1.13 and I must say it is phenomenal. Now, I won't say that you can create the perfect game in two hours. But, as any well-versed programmer will tell you, with the right optimization you can do superb things. And with the Enhancement Pack, there are new functions that use DirectPlay for multiplayer games (network applications). Sadly, I don't actually have it yet.

It is appalling to find that some people think that they should be able to type a few lines of code and get 60+ FPS. If they would do proper research (use the d*mn tutorials, hint, hint...) they would discover that, yes, having several objects slows DB down. But, if they aren't moving some/all of those objects they can make them into Static Objects, in which case the frame rate improves dramatically...so optimization is quite possible.

With programs like IconForge, and 3ds max 5 you can tweak your Dark Basic programs and transform them into a flawless product. But, as for this whole Blitz 3D thing, without a doubt Dark Basic "Pro" is better. Not the first version, the newest version (to date) with patch #4 because it fixes many of the known glitches.

I am working on posting Dark Basic v1.13 (warez) on a website for download, email me at warez_dude10@lycos.com for status updates. I also need the Enhancement Pack (Darkmatter). If anyone has it and would like to forego a copy please contact me. It would be most appreciated. I would like to put it on the web as well; and thus many others would be grateful. I am after DB Pro but I can't find it. I actually saw it on Kazaa (Lite), unfortunately I didn't have the time (many, many, hours...) to download it. If I got it I really couldn't post it on the web, it's too big, so you will have to find it yourself. My suggestion is to try Kazaa Lite or Tesla.

Over and out,
The Traveler

just thought someone should do something about this ???

These people obviously aren't programmers - if they were they would appreciate the amount of time and effort that goes into something like DBP - and they would pay for the software rather than pirating it.

Game Grene is hardly a serious site but even so.

Are you implying that DBP isn't on Kaz because it's too illegal to pirate it?

Edit-- Ugh, just read that comment all the way. It is disgusting that someone could really appreciate a programming language and yet have so little respect for the sweat and blood that went into crafting it-- not simply that he will not pay himself, but he would distribute it for others to get for free. Sickening.

Who here is taking bets on whether Lee has ever had any pirated software?

Actually I am dead set against piracy, and dead set against unfair copy protection methods, and dead set against virus'... but then, in my ideal world everybody behaves themselves and even politicians are nice down to earth people... yeah right.
