Well, I have taken plenty from this site, and I figured it was time to give back. I am attempting to learn texturing and modeling, and here is my first attempt at texturing.

All I did was follow the very simple tutorials for paint.net, and I think they turned out ok. I am sure that people out here have these already, but in the event you don't, take and use. Let me know if these are ok. If they are, I'll try to make some on my own.

No pics as I don't have in jpg or png format yet. Pics coming. Download here.

Nice work for a first attempt or second or third either.
Nice.

Wood
Has a 3d perspective, so you need that as a single 2d tile to use as a floor texture.

Animal Fur
A little fuzzy, but I guess fur is supposed to be fuzzy.

Curved Tiles
Very nice. These could and should be made to be seemless.

Denim
Again, very Nice. I want the link to the tutorial for this one.

Pool water
Very nice. Yup, it looks like water alright.

Paint.NET can save in both of those formats.

Thanks! It was my first attempt at any type of textures. I needed to start somewhere cuz I may have to create a model using a variation of one of these.

I followed the tutorial, and this is what came out. I will probably go back through it and remove the angling so that it comes out as a single tile.

Again, I followed the tutorial. I could probably mess around with it in paint and try to get it seamless though.

Actually, the link to the tutorial is at wikipedia. I found it by googling "Paint.net texture tutorial", and it's the first link that came up. Actually, the wiki article has tutorials on a bunch of stuff for paint, to include sigs, avs, text, textures, and so much more.

Really? I didn't think so, and I did this one about 3 times. Each time it came out different, but I still don't think it looks like water. Maybe if I put it on something it will look different.

Again, I googled "Paint.Net Texture Tutorial", and it was the first link. Brought me right to the wikipedia page. I am gonna go through a bunch of the rest of them and see what I can find. I learn best by being shown once, and then doing on my own.

I am glad you liked them. I may actually keep attempting to do this stuff.

I am glad that people like these. I am actually surprised that nobody else had these yet considering these were just done off of the paint.net tutorials.

I will be doing sand, mud, stainless steel, and rock shortly - no tutorials on those, so should be interesting to see if I can get them done.

i know this sounds like an odd request but could u do the texture for a model they do on like tv.s the metal

computer cookies are not tasty i found that out the hard way

I could make them seamless for you if you like. (As in, properly seamless rather than just patterning them) Let me know. Wouldn't take ten minutes to do. In fact, I did the animal skin one already.

EDIT: It would be hard to turn the curved stones and the original wood one seamless, but the water pool and new wood texture could be.

@TGPEG: Thanks for the offer. But if you could tell me how to make them seamless, then I could not only do it to the ones I have already created but also to any that I am going to be creating in the future. It's the whole "Feed a man/teach a man" thing.

OK. But I can only tell you how to do it in GIMP.

Well, load up your image for a start off, then click:
1 Layer > Transform > Offset

2 Then you'll see a window come up. CLick the button that says 'Offset by x/2, y/2'. Then click the 'wrap around' checkbox if it isn't already checked.

3 Use the Clone Tool (looks a bit like a stamp)
4 Press Ctrl to select an area and then you can paint over the lines that have appeared as a cross over the picture. There's no real way for me to explain how it works, just make sure there's a feathered edge (Circle Fuzzy (19) usually works ok) Keep going until there's no obvious cross along the center of the image then repeat steps 1 & 2 again to reset the image. Then you can save it and it should be repeatable.

You should be able to see why the crystal tiles one is going to be hard to do. Any problems post back or email me.

That last one looks a bit weird. Perhaps give it some colour? You say its a cave wall, add some browns and greys, maybe some green mould/moss? But keep it subtle.
