As anyone who has downloaded my scifi pack will know, there is a bit of an issue getting legacy models into FPSC, in that they go halfway through the floor! I have been away for a while, and somewhere in the murky depths of my memory I recall reading that there is now a command you can put in the character FPE file that will move the character up (meaning that you can offset their y position so that they are standing on the floor).

I've had a search about, but I can't find any reference to it, I was wondering if anyone knew if this command existed, or if I made it up in my fetile imagination?

Cheers.

they probably sink into the floor because you have the first bone at the waist instead of at the feet or toes. the new FPSC versions place the models based on their first bone position.there is a command let me dig it up...offy or fixnewy might do the job.

i thought the way to fix it was to put a joint at the bottom of the character...at least thats the way i fixed this problem. However there may be a command im unaware of.

edit - what dar said

thanks for the help but...
Quote: "offy or fixnewy"

offy is an original FPSC command, and doesn't work on this.

fixnewy is a way of rotating around it's yaxis.

I'm looking for a way of moving the character UP!

I mean a command that has been added since the updates. I'm aware of repositioning the bone to the bottom, but this is a bit of a nightmare on old models, because it means a bunch of re-importing and so on. I felt sure there was another way now...

although....

it might all be for nothing. As a quick test I imported the inmate from MP4 into milkshape, and re-exported with settings that work fine in DBpro, but in FPSC he's fine in the editor, but in game appears like this...

Looks like Pyramid head from Silent Hill might be trying to pay you a visit.

Butters. I saw you were doing a bunch of character development with normal and specular mapping a while back which looked great. Whatever happened to those and have you tried any FPSC X10 development to check out the improved shaders yet?

Sorry to go off topic for a moment.

Your fiddle musta hit a sour note.
Here is a character I rigged in milkshape today from free body parts given away at TurboSquid...

...as you can see from the picture, I have some hand and shoulder issues.
The texture is a temporary whipped out of a thug_4_D2

I've fiddled with X10 on a work PC, but vista is too much like my mom for me to put it on my home pc yet.

Those characters are still hanging around, I'm actually digging them out at the moment and trying to get them FPSC ready - they were custom animated for some DB stuff and not really compatible with FPSC. Are you talking about these:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=118812&b=24
or
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=118626&b=8

if it's the latter ones then I'm going to try and get them FPSC ready, and do a little demo level with them.

Conjured E:

I have no idea, I've restored the Direct X Dlls and whatnot, and it pretty much is a case of "computer says no."
export from Milkshape causes FPSC to crash when I drop the model into the editor. If I export from MS3d into Fragmotion and export that to FPSC I get the Triangle of Doom. I have no idea how to fix this, and really can't be bothered to spend ages trying to fix it. Can I no longer get a model from Milkshape 1.8.4 into FPSC? WIll it not accept boned animated models from Milkshape anymore?

That's a bummer, because MilkShape works fine for my FPSC imports; both characters and weapons.
I hope you can sort it out.

Yeah I was thinking about the later ones. It would be awesome if you got them into FPSC.

If I remember correctly you were using Maya to make them which is out of my league. It's a shame you can't preview shaders with models / textures in Milkshape although I've got a middleware app that will do that now at least.

That looks like the shaders issue again, try turning them off.
