Hey there what programs are you all out there in internet land using to make FPSC content. I is running Softimage XSI advanced 7 although i'm still crap at modeling so a $5000 program doesn't meen much if you can't use it

but anyways what's everyone else using i'd like to know if i wasted my money on this when i could have gotten a cheap and easier on to use.

Sketchup. it's free, easy to learn and (aside the texturing) extremly powerful for static models.

I am Jacks complete lack of surprise.

                    FragMOTION and MilkShape 3D

Neither are FREE,but you can purchase both for around $60 US. (one costs $35 and the other $25)

Paint.NET is a nice FREE paint program that I use for texturing, etc.
There are many effects plug-ins available for it and the ability to add your own effects.
So, there's no need to buy Photoshop or those other expensive image editing packages either.

Then you had a long time to do your research into the alternatives.
At least, that is what you should have done PRIOR to making the purchase. (valuable lesson learned)
If you can't return it for your money back, then there is no point in second guessing your desicion now.
Make the best with what you have and be glad that you have access to $5000 software.
I'm sure somewhere there are people in need of those who have expertise with that package.
It looks as if this package is being used in film and television, so it doesn't seem like it would be hard to re-coop $5k if you master it.
Just look at the list of users.
That thing rocks!
Be glad you have it, and make the most of it!

He is right be glad you have it, and as a tip if you do decide to get one of the other modeling programs. You should really look into blender. One of the features it has is the ability to export to softimage XSI files.

Just give your $5000 modeling program a try. You'll get used to it.
