I have always wondered how you make your own window in Fps Creator. Anyone know how?

Download the segment editor tutorials on the main site. They will teach you how to make a door. Using the same punch feature, punch a hole in the shape of a window, and then have the segment put a glass entity there. Badabing, badaboom.

oops

I wish I had seen this thread before I made mine.
I just gave a similar solution for making Custom Punches, because they are just custom windows.

You can look at a window hole.fps in C:/Program Files/The Game Creators/FPS Creator/Files/segments/ww2/scenery to see what X meshes to replace.

Just like making a custom weapon, it is easier to modify a stock one than try it from scratch.
You can learn alot from examining the stock media.

I never could get it to work on my computer, so I ended up relying on modifying copies of the existing stock stuff to create new segments.

I want to make a huge one though. Like the width and height of a whole wall

Dude, a segment is a segment so it is restricted to the same size as other segment unless you are wanting a crash.
You could however, make a single window pane the size of a whole segment.
Then make other segments for the corners, and the sides.
That way you could combine those segments when building for unlimited sized windows.
I'm pretty sure that can be done with modified copies of stock windows.

Why not just retexture a wall segment to look like a window pane if they are going to be that big?
I guess you want the glass to be breakable, huh?
If you wanted bulletproof glass, then the wall retexture method would be the quick fix. (you'd even have bullet holes/slugs in it when it gets shot)

@ Dar13:

You have to type in the filetype. Save as .fps.

@ Robert:

Just model a really thin wall the size of a normal segment (100 x 100), and import into the segment maker. If you want to place this as a wall, just have the segment place the model at one of the edges of the segment. If you want it to replace a wall, add a punch (which you also modeled).

Give the window a nice glass texture, then try it in FPSC. Maybe even try a cubemap (take the shader from the default windows and apply it to your window). Then make a texture with a bunch of white lights and smears and save it as YOURTEXTURENAME_I.dds (I think).

I just type up my own segment files, the editor is annoying as hell.

You get what I want, and yeah I want it to be breakable. So your saying to just model the window and also model some corners? Seems like a good idea.

How do I model a punch?
