I have spent days on this and now hit a problem, i'm using MS3D, see image for my problem!

I have added vertex to mostly build this pig and ithink i have built the face the wrong way but should this not show in ms3d?

Anyone know of a way to fix it without starting again?

...since you created this model from scratch, can't you just reverse the faces in question?

It'd take some time, but shouldn't be difficult to do...

Hm... That's very strange... I think the faces not showing properly may be inverted, try fixing that in MS3D.

Best.

Yor mod has been erased by a signature. (Oops... something is wrong)

Just take your time and select each face not showing up(one at a time to avoid confusion) then at the top under the 'Face' option choose 'Reverse Vertex Order'. In the future its good to model with 'Draw Backfaces' unchecked in each window.Hope that helped.

Don't just say No it can't be done. Think outside the box.

Or you could make it so that it doesn't select back faces, drag a selection box over the pig and reverse vertex order. Then the whole pig will be black, then make it so that you select back faces and select the whole pig and reverse vertex order.

That wouldn't quite work, as faces that are at an angle would also be selected. If it was a cube it would work that way. Best to do a manual fix, and try to avoid the problem in the first place in future.

Great pig model by the way.

I find it best to select and delete each offending face and recreate a new one 'in turn' (Do not forget to select the vertices after creating the new faces and weld together).
When doing this with a subject model such as yours its best to 'select and hide' all other vertices when recreating the new faces.

I hope this helps.

All the best of luck

EDIT: You may have to 'regroup' the new faces with the previous faces groups for the sake of the texture's application. Maybe 'Edit-refresh textures' afterwards.

This actually doesn't happen. I do this with all of my models in milkshape, it works perfectly.

I don't know the program that you are using, but doesn't it have an option to automatically calculate the outside normals? It should at least have a flip normals button somewhere, so that you don't have to reorder the vertices yourself.

Nothing is impossible

yep it is!

Update on perssy pig; i have given her new ears, re-done the UV map and texture.

NEXT i'm going to have a go at anim her, all i think i will do is have here stand still and just move the head, side to side and eating!

EDIT: starting to think this should have been in 3D chat, MOD your call!

Just as a quick tip, what i do is build it with the 3d port in flat shaded mode, and when ever i see a black face i select it (it is usually selected after it is made.) and i use the shortcut to reverse the vertex order. I think its ctrl shift f.....yeah i think it is. hope this helps
