I know segments size are 100x100x100 units.

But what is unit size in centimeters (or inches)?

So 1 unit is 2.54 cm or 1 inch.

Thx Avid.

I mean a segment is 100x100x100 inches (254x254x254 cm)

divide all by 100 and you get the unit size: 1 inch (2.54 cm)

Just started having a quick look through the guide Nickydude and I'm very impressed with it. Am just getting back to FPSC after a long break (so long that only 1.0 was available and the dev team were working on the first update lol) and I'm going to find it very useful, so thanks for all the hard work!

Am going to start messing about with Studio Max so now have an idea of what size to make my models thanks to this thread. I'm assuming that my best bet is to create the floor, wall(s) and ceiling seperately and save them as .x files (the truth is out there lol) and then put them together with the segment maker thingy..?

I'm also thinking about creating normal map textures too using the demo version of CrazyBump I've just downloaded and following the steps given by Dark Jaguar Flame here. Should be easy enough shouldn't it..?

So I should make the segment in 3DS Max as a whole thing using 1 inch as 1 unit (so a cube 100x100x100 inches), get the normal map sorted and saved in CrazyBump, and then add the normal map using Segment Maker then I should be good to go..? All I have to do then is change the .fpe file for the segment to change these lines:

Quote: "textured = segment_name_d2.tga
effect = effectbank/bumpcubereflectalpha/bumpcubereflectalpha.fx"

Would that work? In Dark Jaguar Flame's tutorial he says to make the entity dynamic, seeing as this is a segment rather than an entity would this be automatically done by FPSC or do I have to manually adjust something to make it happen?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm a bit rusty at FPSC...haven't used it for a couple of years!

According to using the segment editor by TGC this is not correct.
You make the wall meshes, the floor, the corners as single .x files, import them and assemble them to a segment in the segment editor. Do not import a pre-assembled complete room. Model one wall, one floor, one corner piece and then build and texture your segment in the editor.

I am Jacks complete lack of surprise.
