Starting 2009 there is going to be a few changes to the forum as well as a major clampdown of non constructive posts. Please see the following post by Rick Vanner and Lee Bamber, owners of TheGameCreators.

Quite a few of you may find that you'll 'suddenly' receive a 3 day noob slap and wonder what's going on, in the previous post we said there is going to be a clampdown. Previous, we've been a bit lax on certain things and this has resulted in arguments among members throughout threads, this will now stop so the forum can become a better place for those coming to FPSC for the first time, as well as the 'golden oldies'.

No mod will ever slap / ban you for no reason
There are always reasons that the moderators take action against you, it could be that you annoy people with your posts (mods do get emails about people), or you've said something that goes against the Acceptable Usage Policy but haven't realised it (this is why you should read it ). You should receive an explanation as to why you received your slap / ban in that particular thread.

Off Topicdness(?)
If you wish to discuss stuff that's not related to FPS Creator there is a board called Geek Culture. We're happy to see you discuss things that don't fit elsewhere on the forums... as long as it follows the AUP.

Non-constructive posts
Come on guys, how hard can this be? If your post has nothing to do with the topic then don't post. If you see someone being an idiot in the thread, please don't respond, we know it's tempting to put someone in their place, to tell them how stupid they are being or, if you're being attacked personally, to retaliate. Don't. Either report it or ignore the post, the mods will get to it eventually and even though you might think you've done nothing wrong by 'sticking up for yourself', the mods will take a different view. Here's a perfect example of how, instead of saying 'Read the manual noob', you should answer: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=143222&b=21. Again, here's another example of helpfulness that should be encouraged: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=143204&b=21.

Here are a few examples of how not to go about a thread: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=138062&b=21, http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=137490&b=21

It's plain and simple guys:

Keep posts on topic and ignore the idiots.

In Post Screen Shots

All in post screen shots (those to be shown in the post) must now be no larger than 800 x 600 to prevent the stretching of the forum for those with small screen resolutions. Screen shots shown through a link or as an attachment can be any size.

Swearing

DO NOT SWEAR IN YOUR POSTS, not even if most of the letters are replaced with stars, we all will know what the word means so find a suitable non-swear word or you may be put on post mod.
