So many people have been going on about the affordability of good 3D software. So I've posted this link, to this really cool resource site. It has listings of tons of free 3d programs, and 2d stuff as well. I've spent hours on this site, and got a ton of great stuff there. So have a look. It might help you out.

Thanks Cosmic Prophet!

A list of free stuff is always nice.

One's on the list that I already have...

Google's Sketchup
Planetside Terragen (Free, but I paid for the commercial license)

Ones that look interesting ...

Ztools - Nice looking program, but I already have FragMOTION and MilkShape 3D.

SOFTIMAGE|XSI Experience - I bet that has some really good info in there. ( I know at least one person who could benefit from that one )

Discreet gmax - Oops thats no good .... " As of October 6, 2005, Autodesk will no longer offer Gmax® software as a stand-alone product. If you are interested in other 3D animation, modeling, and rendering applications from Autodesk please check out Autodesk® 3ds Max® software." ... definitely not free!

Blender - This has to be good because I have heard alot of people recommend it.

3DPlants.com - These looks really nice, and free for commercial use. (this is a good one)

Alot of the links were dead or were so old they had redirects.

One site I came across that looks cool is ....www.sharecg.com (it was a redirect for lithunwrap)
That site looks great for free resources.
It seems like there are various rights retained by the authors though.

So, only the ones with unrestricted use would appeal to me.
It is still a great resource though. (model section has over 4,000)

I want to expand on the SOFTIMAGE|XSI Experience one.

Here is a straight link to the FREE SOFTIMAGE|XSI Mod Tool .

"The Mod Tool is a free version of XSI for non commercial game creation."
It may be only for non-commercial uses, but it is quite nice.
"With Mod Tool, you can create original games for PC and Xbox 360 using XNA..."
I've never made an Xbox 360 game before!
I guess I will need an Xbox 360 first.

Actually, this is another one of those things demanding a lot of coding, so I will skip it for now since I don't want to learn another language.

Actually, gmax is free. It was abandoned a while ago by Discreet/Autodesk. You can get it off of Turbosquid for free. The only catches are that you have to create an account, and that there is no support for gmax.
