This is really pissing me off - every time I compile and run, ZoneAlarm warns me that dbp_exe.exe is trying to access the internet or local network, and even though I check the box that should make ZoneAlarm recognize it next time, it keeps saying under More Info "this program has changed since it last ran!"

Why does DBP need to access the internet?!?!??!

Yeah, I know, I only have one game. Yeah, I know it sucks. But I made it! Me!

I've had no problems this end with my ZoneAlarm. Could this be a DirectX thing?

Its DirectPlay being initialised - its not actually accessing the internet (until you use it), but its probably claiming some ports.

Your firewall is too jumpy

No problems with ZoneAlarm here though. As Toady said, it is DirectPlay being set up - which some firewalls will detect.

I have the problem occasionally. It comes for a while then goes. No other games have this problem. Dbpro should proberly check if directplay is used in the game before doing initalised. People arn't so trusting when a program you have given/sold to them keeps getting firewall alerts.

Indi: "what exactly is trying to access the internet?"

DarkBASIC Pro, of course. And it doesn't always do that - it started doing it when I started programming my Sidescrolling engine. Here's the deal:

1) If I make any changes to the program, DBP tries to access the internet.
2) If I haven't made any changes to the program and run it, the second time and every time after it will try to access the local network.

gargh. it's quite annoying

The reason is that ZoneAlarm knows that the program has changed from the previous version...

Hmmmmmm ya think?!?! But that's not what I'm asking - it only does this with this new sidescroller engine i started, not with any other programs I've made.

Sorry if I sound pissed but I am
