Well, doing it in FPSC is best, as it'll look more natural, for pre-rendered ones, IMO Blender is really good, if you learn it that is...

How do you create a cutscene in FPSC?

I am practicing modeling stuff and texturing stuff.

1) You would need to get Screen Capture Software like Fraps.
2) Build a one level map in FPSC for the stage and then build the game's exe.
3) Comment out the six huds for the ammo lives and weapon displays in the setuplevel.fpi of the built game. (you don't want the huds in the cutscene)
4) Run the Fraps program, then run the game you built and hit the Record Hotkey for Fraps when you are ready to start 'filming'. (default is F9 I think)
You will also need to hit F9 again to stop recording, then exit the game.
5) Open the recording from fraps into your movie editing software like Windows Movie Maker or something and edit (add audio/trim) then save as AVI.

If you have x10 it's easier but basically the same, for my cutscene I hijacked a few friends, took the level map and turned it into a deathmatch level, gave the level to them populated with one scientist and 5 zombies had one zombie person as the 'camera' filming (fraps) as the person with the scientist character was running down the hall persued by zombies. Part of the cutscene was from the zombies POV so he was recording with Fraps too as he closed in and clobbered the scientist. I took that one and added a septia tone to make it like a red haze and blurred the edges and then used my Movie maker to put it together. Came out well I think, my computer was friend when my nephew spilt OJ on the tower but I might have saved it to disk so I'll see and I'll post it on YouTube if I have it.

I know how to use fraps. I used it to record my doom 3 walkthrough.
But it is hard to film a cutscene in game. Because there are some stuff you can't do in game.

I can't texture. I'm not an artist.

Blender's alright - you have to import the characters via fragmotion though.

NO!!! DON'T USE MOVIE MAKER! Get the demo of something better. I got the demo of Adobe Premire Elements, so I'm happy. But, whatever you do, don't use movie maker.

Some people say that I'm crazy... And I agree.

What's wrong with it?

Movie maker isn't as bad as it's cut out to be - not everyone can afford Premiere.

You can add special effects like CHROMA KEY for blue screen or green screen by installing Add-ons (XML)in the AddOnTFX folder in your Shared folder.
Someone told me about it the other day, but they have Windows XP so they can use the method above.

For people using VISTA like me it's a bit more difficult.
I did find an "add-on pack" if you will that iincludes several effects and it works with Windows Movie Maker (WMM) 6.0 in Vista.
You can find it at RehanFX, and it is on sale for only $10.
I tried it out with a blue screen with my business name to create a sig overlay, which you can see in the attached video.
Yeah, it's just a simple text message in a basic font, but the blue screen chroma key transition effect works great.
I'm testing the trial now, but I already know I am going to register it.
