This post is for F1 nerds like me

OK, as of this post date, the F1 season has just 4 races to go (Hungary, Italy, USA and Japan in that order) and it's still an open championship.

What do you think of the season so far, and who would you like to win?

Personaly, commpared to the last few seasons, where it was becoming so predictable that nobody was watching, this season has been more entertaining and less predictable, simply because no one team is walking away with it, so it has become watchable again (Watching Barrichello win at Silverstone was fun). Not too sure about the new qualifying format though, could do with another change there.

I see 2 possible endings to this season (probably completely wrong ):

1) If Ferrari cannot improve their car any further, then it maybe a showdown in the last race between both the Williams drivers.

2) If Ferrari can find improvement then it might be decided in the last race, between Michael Schumacher and either of the 2 Williams drivers (brother v brother perhaps?). Personaly I don't think McLaren can advance Rikonen (I think that's how you spell it) much further with their current car, but then, I'm not the technical head of McLaren

Any comments? Friendly ones please

I think after the German GP Ralf Schumacher is out of the championship race.
I guess the Williams cars will work quite well in Hungary (esp. if it's gonna very hot there) so Montoya probably takes the lead. Indianapolis on the other hand, seems to be more suited for Ferrari.
And maybe Bridgestone will have better tyres then.
IMO the first three (M. Schumacher, Montoya and Raikkonen) have chances to win the championship.

Why watch something that goes around a track, and around again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again ?

Well, we either want to see great skillful driving, overtaking and clever use of pitlane strategy, or like Indi we are all sadists and want to to see them crash once in a while

They don't show a lot of them in the US. We're stuck with Nascar, which is basically a pit crew challenge.

We can't stop here! This is bat country!

I've always prefered the motor bikes, they crash more you can actually see them ride, buy that I mean you can see their hands and bodies move and they actually overtake more than once a race. I can see driving around a track fast in a car but to do it on a motorbike you must have to be a completely insane.

I think the new qualifying format is great, has worked here in Australia for the V8 Supercars for quite a while, Being a Biased Aussie I'd like Webber to win but that just aint gonna happen yet. One change I would like to see is red flag brought back. Was a great crash to watch but the talent removed from the field left the race a lil dull.

Why indeed... thats why I watch F1 they have to turn left and right.

Oval racing = left left left left
Drag Racing = Ooops hang on I blinked
Rally = Very talented but unless you watch it on telly the courses are to big for spectacting and a lot gets missed out on. Also very rarely any overtaking.

Demolition Derbys = Not fun to watch - Fun to participate - not that cheap to do without sponsors - wooohoo for sponsors. I would give them a plug but if you werent from my area you wouldnt know them. Season should start again soon....cant wait

One of my cars from last year. Sorry guys but it's way more fun than programming.

Anyone else have any motoring hobbies?

that rendition of moe on your bonnet is grouss m8.

I paddy bashed a few old beat up cars as a kid on my grandfathers land.

I like F1 the most i think, I did some security work @ indy on the goldcoast in australia. I was on gate 5 and it was heaps of fun.
Steel Security at the time were stalling our pay, bastards! but we got it eventually.

Some funny things happened on gate 5

A black nissan exa tried to do some laps on the course really early one morning and escaped through our gate but go a hot cup of tea in his window from my collegue lol it musta scorched but he deserved it.

Some kids raided a catering truck and lined up all these frozen chickens over the track like a speedbump, they also knocked the head off a huge gas cylinder and set it alight.

I didnt recognise Michael andretti in the flesh and he came really early to show some suits the track in a beefed up road car. Lol my partner told me he doesnt need accreditation ( a ticket ) so we let him through.

I lived a few suburbs away and you could still hear the cars enginges quite clearly as they roared up the straight.

The island they base the HQ and pitstop is called macintosh island just outside of surfers paradise, thats where it was all happening after work.

its lots of fun but it gets expensive if you want something really nice.

Yeah the car was fuly painted had krusty cringing on drivers door and homer on passenger door with part of his skull missing and brains hanging out, and big pools of blood. The camera i had the finished pics on was stolen tho .

Wouldnt mind seeing the indy one day but is a long way from Perth.

Did manage to do Bathurst in 99 tho. Corporate tickets and all, highlight was having lunch with Sir Jack. That was a drunken weekend lol. But I do make the journey every year when the V8's get here.

But we are spose to be getting a F1 track here soon... Wooohoooo

We are spose to get a round of the Formula Nippon, possibly steal the gp off of Melbourne. And I hear the bikes are looking for a new venue as Phillip Island is closing in next few years.
