I've tried using 'print screen' but the colour gets screwed up, possible because it saves it as a 16 bit picture file. Is there any other way to take screens, or a way I could fix this problem cos taking pictures of the monitor with my camera just doesn't cut it . Thanks.

I believe ScreenTheif will work, it's a MS-DOS based program that takes a screenshot when you press Ctrl+Alt+T - Only problem is that it sometimes slows down the game/program you're running. I'll see if I can find a download in a minute.

I don't think it's just that it's a DOS program. I can take screens of that fine... the problem is most likely that it's using an odd color pallete.

yeah, i mean try taking screen shots of Age Of Empires 2, for example. Its a win32 program, with a krazy colour pallete that makes your screenshot nearly black.

There are alot of games liek this...

There are a lot of DX screen capture programs out there. MobyGames has a guide for taking good shots.

AoEII has a good excuse for its crazy color pallete . It only uses 256 colors, which I think is amazing, given that it looks far better than many 16b color RTSs released....

nice, i never knew that. I thought it was 16bit, it sure looks like it

I like AOE2, its an amazing game esoecially for the system resources it uses, i mean the minimum requirements is something like a pentium 166

Yeah . That's actually the main reason they stuck with 256 colors. 16bit would have been very slow on old proceccers and video cards. So they went out of their way and hand-picked every single color... I really admire Ensemble
