FPSC Classic Models and Media / how to properly texture

hi,
im making models in milkshape.
i can add a texture to it say plain black but if its the genorater how do you make one part silver and the other blue.
also what do you use uv mapping for.

This should be in models and media really.

To answer you questions

- In milkshape you can make multiple materials then select the groups that you wish to have that colour and click assign.
- UV mapping is a way of putting textures onto a model without having more than one texture file basically it tells the model where to look on a image to find the texture that should be on a certain part of that model and then pastes it onto it in-game. Milkshape does not have a built in UV mapper but there are a few good free ones around.

what would be the easiest way.
so with uv mapping Ummm how do i UV map btw i have uv mapper classic. then i go on milkshape and assign the textures. am i right. if not please correct me.

just look under Window...there is the Texture Coordination Tool.
