Why don't you just research Truespace and Blender by Googling? This is a programming board right here, you could also try posting something about this on their actual forums. That might help.

Just a suggestion.

One of the better animation packages for DBC is a little program that was actually coded in DBC called Lightning Limbs

It'll only work with limb based objects such as those in DarkMatter 1 (you'll have to set up the limb hierarchy for your models in whatever model making package you are using). Enjoy!

Erm... that's a little vague, RYD. I can think of several possible reasons why, but it's impossible to say on the given information. Is your object a .3ds or .x file? And more importantly, if it is a .x file then is it an ASCII text file (can you open it notepad and read a variety of decimal numbers with loads of ";" in there)?

If you could upload your model so I could take a look at it, I'll be able to try it out on my own computer. If you'd rather, you could just email it to me (you can contact me through my website).

Let me know what you decide, as without seeing the model I really can't do anything!

Hi, sorry I took so long to reply, I'm afraid I completely forgot about this. I've tested your model in Lightning Limbs and it appears to load perfectly.

When the program crashes, does it give an error message, like "runtime error <some number>"? If so, then could you please place the attached file in the same directory as the LL exe, and then try and get the error again - this setup ini file will produce more data giving me a rough ideapf what part of the code is at fault.

And could I also ask, what exactly are you doing when the program crashes? I think the file browser I used in that release will crash the exe if you're trying to change drives and click on a blank space instead of a drive icon.

Other than that, I really don't know what's going on.

@RTR
I tried loading RYDs model into lightning limbs version 1.0 dated 7/22/2008 and the model was scrambled. It loads fine by itself into both DBC 1.13 and 1.20.

When a model is initially loaded, does LL apply any rotations to the limbs?

@RYD
I'm guessing you used Blender to export the animation... If so, which Direct X exporter did you use? The top of the file is missing a header.

In the limbo.x file, after

xof 0303txt 0032

Paste

Header {
1;
0;
1;
}

Enjoy your day.

I loaded the object in that version of LL, but I never actually loaded it straight into DBC to see what it looked like.

Lightning Limbs does initially apply a rotation of 0,0,0 to each limb, and also reads and then sets the limb offset values. This might be having an effect, but I can't test it right now. I'll have a look and edit this post tonight.
