Hey Ply, I got your vehical script that you posted on the official 1.07 mod and i cant get it to work! The script has a veriety of problems!

The first problem i had was when i entered for the first time i shot the the levels left hand corner!!!!!

The other problem was that when i entered the vehical it was facing backwards and had a camera like that of a player (where i can look around 360 degrees). Then i couldnt get the vehical to start!

Im testing it on the humve frrom one of the packs like it was in your demo Please help!!!

@Arenas:

Did you set up the humvee correctly so that it was a character entity and not a normaly object?

Also, the humvee is supposed to have a different camera angle when driving it.

Well the camera angle was like it was a person where you could look 360 degrees without moving, like a tanks turret....

And no i didnt have the charactor entity... I'll try to set it up now but iv never charactorised a humvee before.....


I think iv doe it but you dont follow the vehical and the first time you enter the vehical you shoot across the map... and the vehical is driven backwards... and it has magerly bad stearing because it keeps lurching....

Yes, this was to prevent a collision issue with the vehicle and the player. If the player was forced to be inside the vehicle, then the vehicle's collision with the player would shoot it up into the air..... not much fun.

Never seen that happen before. Can you describe this in more detail?

You'll need to alter the humvee's FPE file so that the "fixnewy" option is set to 180. This will turn it around.

This was due to a logic error in the script. I fixed it at one point, but I'll leave it up to you to alter the script anyway you see fit.

Yes, this is to allow the player to look where they want to go. The way it works is you look in the direction you want to go and you push forward, then the humvee will turn towards that direction while accelerating.

Just add "ischaracter = 1" to the FPE file.

Well iv charactorised it all.


Basically the error is when i press enter instead of repositioning the camera over the humvee it positions it on the edge of the map.... After the first time it works.... STRANGE!!!!!

carnt you make it so that the camera follows the vehical, otherways its a really hard script to use....

The camera should be following the vehicle.

If it doesn't act like how it's shown in the video, then something must be wrong.

Perhaps make a video of your own to show what it's doing? It's a little hard to follow along with what you're describing.

I suggest using Fraps. It's very easy to use and outputs to a format that can be directly imported into windows movie maker.
I can't GIVE you the software, but they do have trail software for download on their website.

Decal override isn't necessarily a script, it's additional options for your gunspec file. You can find these options in the readme document.

Well iv tried to post the file but it is too big ---> 200MB for 30 seconds (ITS CORRUPT!!!) and anyway i think i may be moving to Lemur mod because of its features, im still deciding what to do. One thing that i need to know is why model pack five weapons dont all work when you position them ---> i get the smoke and bullets but no weapon after i position them, also the sound goes. I have got the Deagle working but none of the others work!!!! HELP!!!!!

well iv got it working with the Deagle, and im on the mp5... but i see the smoke from the gun, but no gun (I also see the bullets). is there a way to alter the z axis (im fine with the y and x axis). I think the gun may be being blocked by the player....

I don't know what to tell you, then. I don't have MP5, so I can't test it myself.

I know meteorite did a lot of setting up ironsights for model pack weapons, perhaps you could ask him about it.

I got it working i set the simple zoom to 5... why i have no idea, but its fixed not and i have about 5 working iron sights

I know this is an old thread, but, Im having the same issues with the car script in your mod Ply.

Here is what I did.
---------------------------------------------------------------
1. Copied your car script from your thread, and saved it as an fpi.
Car.fpi

2. Opened Fpsc, and filled an area with the regular grey segments (floors)

3. Edited the car "specs" file, and made it a character, and changed fixnewy to 180.

4. Saved it, and put the humvee in the center of the grey segments. Then I put the player start arrow. I then, changed the main script of the car, to the "car.fpi".

5. Clicked test game, and here is what happened...
------------------------------------------------------

Everything loads fine. The car, is patiently waiting in the center. I walk up to it, and press "ENTER".

The camera changes to a new camera. In the CORNER of the map, at the very bottom. I can look around, and I see the "grey" segments with the car floating high above me. I hit "G".

I then re hit ENTER. The camera floats above the car. Good so far...

I then use W and S to move forward and backward. But, the camera doesnt follow the car.

What did I possibly do wrong?

It's because the script has some extra semicolons in it.


the semicolons were in front of the first two state=3's where it deals with the camera

@Ply- you might want to fix that soon

I have no inclination to fix it... play with the vehicle for a little bit and you'll soon discover why the vehicle is not a popular item in the Ply's Mod script lineup.

(Hint: Try running into a wall with the car)

Ok. Well not all good games have vehicals in them... I guess its not such a necessary feature. I wonder... Is it possible to make a mounted machine gun? Like COD4/COD5.

Im going to have a go at making classes that you chose which one you want. It shouldnt be too hard. Make a menu hud to fill the screen and have it so that when the player clicks in a cirtain area he is given the weapons.
