I was tinkering today and came up with this set up to mimick placing a door charge complete with explosion, hud display, countdown timer warning sound fx and flying door, if you set it up just right its a brilliant effect!
what you need
-Doorway segment (i used stock ww2 radio room)
-a seperate door 'entity' to place over it from the entity section (very important for the flying door
-an object to create the explosion (i used a cup)
-my download file attached
what to do with it
put the hud in the langaugebank\gamecore\text folder
the sound wav in your audiobank user folder
the existing door.fpi in your main scripts folder
and the destroyandactive2.fpi in your destroy folder
all very important!
attach the doorcharge_exisitngdoor.fpi to the door in the segment (not the seperate door entity that you place over it) and make sure its destroy fpi is destroy and activate2.fpi which i included and in its if used field place the name of your exploding entity (i number them so in this one i type 'one') next place your exploding entity behind the door out of sight, i rename it to 'one' to match the doors if used field because you want it to activate this before it destroys itself (hence the adapted destroy fpi), set it so it doesnt spawn at the start, set its destroy fpi to destroy and activate.fpi (the standard one this time) make sure its explodable and up the xplode damage if you desire, and in its if used field type the name of the door entity (again not the segment one) so il use 'two' conitnuing numerically
next take the door from the entity bank, preferably the same type of door as the segment door you used, set it so it too doesnt spawn at the start , make sure the name matches your explodable entities if used field so i would name this 'two', see?
I set its spawn angle to 2 and velocity to 80 so when it spawns it shoots off horizontally to add to the xplosion!
now if its all set up right, when you walk up to the door it will display a message saying press m to set door charge, an alarm will sound giving you time to move back and them BOOOOOM bye bye door!
what you think? little tricky to set up but the effect is worth it!
if you get stuck placing the files check in the door fpi and it follow the root the engine takes
heres the aftermath,. if you play with explode damage and door velocity you can get it to fly further!
