I have been debating as to which is more worth the time...I know some basic C++ and I intend on purchasing 3D World Studio and a few others along with it...however GDK is cheaper (even by $30) and by the Features list it seems to be saying it's the better program. Is there something I'm missing? Do you need DB Pro to run GDK?

I am also aware that there is a Studio Pack that offers both in one bundle, which I may go ahead and get, though it includes a lot of features I really don't need, and if GDK is $30 and would be the better option, I can use the extra $60 for Dark Physics, etc...

any opinions on the difference? Which one should I go for, or should I just take my chances and go with the package? I'm new to all of this so I don't want to overload myself with features (i.e. the studio pack that offers both)...I want to start off slow, just learn how to make a decent map, import it through C++, etc. I don't need Tree Magik or anything.

Let me know!

I love using DBPro for small projects and simple things. But darkGDK is free and uses C++ which is a much more powerful language. So I would say if you are looking to begin learning game programming, DBPro is awesome and I highly recommend it. If you are working on a large project, (>30000 lines of code) then definitely you would be better off with darkGDK. You do not need DBPro to use darkGDK you just need a C++ compiler I use MS VC++ Express edition because its free.

I don't think I'd put it that way. If you're proficient with C++, then go with DGDK, regardless of project size, otherwise use DBP.

I say Basic Code is way easier to learn then C++ so if your new to coding go with DBPro first.
