Hi, I want to make an editor, but I do not know where to start.
I want the editor to look like a real program and not like a game look, and I want to click wih the mouse to make objects and things

Depends, the destroyer. What kind of editor are you thinking of making?

With all the FREE editors and even cheaper editors out there already im not sure why anyone would even be bothered. I can understand you wanting to if it is too get used to programming with dbpro, but you could always learn by trying to make an actual game too.

However If you search the forums here there are a couple code snippets that can be found to help you out. there's one that saves out in data files, i can't remember the name of the thread though. I'll look for it.

You want to make a game maker right?

Game makers are some of the most difficult programs to make, because pf all the aspects that you have to account for. I'd say learn DbPro more, and then come back and try again.

That's what they WANT you to think...

also please note that you cant make an executable with dbp so you just have to make an editor then an game app seperately and the editor will save files that the game app can read....

Actually, you can.

Just go to the folder that your .dbpro is in while you're code is open and the program has been run, and you will find an .exe

screen width()-screen width()

Why not just use 0?

i believe that he programmed a level editor then a game player seperately, the gam player just reads what the editor saves....

i hope im wrong because that could open up a new world for these games being made..

hmmm...... if it can't make a .exe maby it could be even more simple like making a game maker and an game player so you dont have to install a .exe file everytime you just install 1 thing would that be possible
