I have searched the forums and found answers to this but im an idiot with fpsc and have NO idea how to script... i was wondering how to show text on screen when the player walks into a trigger zone, and it happens every time they walk into it. not just once. yes, i have searched the community guide, and like i said, i have found answers but not detailed and descriptive enough. im still a noob with fpsc and i need somebody to PLEASE explain it carefully step by step to me. PLEASE reply!

alright. i'm guessing your a grown-up. i dunno though. i am a teenager, but i can script like crazy ( ie real good) so heres a clue. learn to script. FPSC has SOOOO many more possibilites if you can script. But if you really want me too, i can do a script for you quick (in about five minutes)

It actually is in the community guide on page 75. I used this on my game as well and it works great.

Copy and past this into a text file(change myownhud to name of what you want and place the file there) and save it as an fpi.

Then you just add a trigger in FPSC and attach the script to mainai. Read the guide as it goes into a lot more detail though

i followed your instructions and tried the ones in the guide but it still doesnt work. nothing appears when i walk into the zone... i named my tga "myownhud" just because i didnt want to mess with the script, i put it in languagebank/english/gamecore/text and no luck... did i do something wrong?

Convert your image to .jpg and attach it so we can see it. There may be something about it that's keeping it from working.

there are 3 things that you need to do to make this work:

1) create the script, use the above script from the community guide and paste into notepad. Save it as myownhud, then change the file extention to .fpi

2) create your .tga file and put it in the languagebank/english/gamecore/text called myownhud.tga

3) Put a trigger zone in your map, change the properties, main script should be myownhud.fpi (the one you created) and as long as the .tga file is in the right place it will appear,

i had to use a converter to get it to jpg

How bizzare??

I have attached the script and the tga file for you, i had to shrink your bitmap down to 512x512 and re-positioned the x & y axis in the script for it to show in the middle of the screen, video of it working in the next post.

the script or myownhud.fpi file goes into your scriptbank, the myownhud.tga file goes into the languagebank\english\gamecore\text

Then change the main script of your trigger zone to myownscript.fpi
