Greetings and welcome to my first ever challenge! it will be one of many to come! depending on what the challenge is about it will be in that section. e.g. a model challenge would be the "models and media" section.I will select judges from the volunteers. to be a judge you must:

notifie me.

offer a prize for the winner(s).

send that prize to the winner(s).

say who you vote for and not post that until i say you can.

in this contest, ladies and gentlemen, you will make a script makes that character be on your side, shoot enemies and stay within 300 units from the player.this must be an fpi file. and it must be posted so that the judges and myself can test it. Good Luck!

sure. why not. ill go make a very hard to code script from scratch, then give it, (for free!) to some guy who joined no more than 2 days ago.

This is just a way for you to get a free script. I think people would only do this for a well known, credible user.

/end rant.

Yeah. this just seems like a poor attempt at getting free scripts. If you were any "master" you'd know this script already existed.

Try again

Yeah, this seems kind of to me. You just joined on Saturday, and you are already such a master that you are running a contest so people can code something that has already been done? If this board wasn't censored, I'd tell you that it sounds like BS to me.

This is not a request board. And people out here really are going to expect you to be able to learn how to script and do stuff on your own. There's nothing wrong with asking for help if you're stuck. But to make an attempt to get free scripts disguised as a "contest" - that's just shameful. You should be embarassed.

Now, not to harsh on you, welcome to the forum. If you are looking for this particular piece of script, search the forums. I believe the one you are after has already been done, but may need to be modified so the friendly entity stays within 300 units of you.

Now dont have a hissy fit over it. Learn from your mistakes and dont do it again, although you may have got yourself a bad reputation now

Too late - the hissy fit has already been had.

@ Challenge Masters: You pretty much screwed yourself on this one. You joined on Saturday (3 days ago). Your first topic stated that you didn't know how to script at all, and then you start this topic saying that you are running a scripting challenge that you will be the judge of. What's more is that the challenge you are running is for a script that already exists.

Dude, you have to at least TRY to learn scripting. People out here aren't just going to give you stuff for free. I had to learn scripting too - although I'm a programmer by trade, so it wasn't that hard to pick up. I'm not the best, but at least I make the effort. On the other hand, I suck at modeling. But I am still trying to learn it so I can at least say I tried before I ask for help.

If you do need help, just ask. All we out here ask of you first is:

1. Try to learn scripting and figure stuff out first. Learning to script will get you so much farther with FPSC than just copying and pasting someone else's code.

2. Name your threads appropriately. Don't use "I need help!" or "I'm new - help please" as the title to your thread. If you are having a problem, naming your thread appropriately not only gives us an idea of what you are needing help with, it can help others down the road with the same problem.

3. Search for the answer to your problem before asking for help. This goes along with # 1 above. If you learn to script (even just a little) and you search for and find answers, you will be less reliant on someone else doing things for you.

The major reason is that if you don't at least try to do things yourself, you can't really take credit for the games you create. Capiche?
