A lot of people hate the AI that come with FPSC.

I dont blame them, because i do also.
It is horrible.

But i have made an AWESOME ai script that is actually fun to fight.

I am not releasing it, sad to say (simply because i want unique ai for my game, and this script makes them unique), but if you learn to script, you can achieve some incredible things.

Also, if you up weapons damage, It makes the ai a lot more fun to fight.

So, what im saying is 2 things,
1.Learn to script, and

2.up the weapons damage (put sniper rifles up to 300 or something to ensure instant death.

You can have much more fun games if you try

It is well that war is so terrible or we should grow too fond of it- Robert E Lee

Without releasing your game script, could you put together a small list or explanation of things that you do (in general) that make the AI better? We would all like to "learn to script".

Best.

...not asking for your script, but it appears that you're the only one who'll ever know how awesome it is, by teasing and keeping everyone in the dark about your stroke of scripting genius, General Jackson.

If it is so "awesome", you should make a video, because just saying how awesome yours is and not even letting us peek at it is kinda selfish.

I agree, at least make a video to show that you are being truthful.

Of course it makes FPS lag, but only for while your taping. After you close out both Fraps and FPS, it will run fine next time you open it...

I have changed my mind. You cannot make me give out my script (which i worked on 4 hours on the way back from wisconsin), but i'll give some tips so you can make your own much better ai

1. To make the ai run to cover, code in something like this

:state=1:settargetname=box1,rotatetotarget,movetotarget,state=x.
Script this in after the plr seen, then have them do their crouch animation, and then shootplr. This works best in a large room\area,
and also make sure the box isnt too tall

... We weren't asking for you to give away your script. If Bond1 spent a week modeling some kick ass alien, I wouldn't expect him to give it away for free. We're asking for a video to prove you're not making crap up to gain false respect. But hey, if you can't stand to take a five minute laggy video, don't. But don't expect us to believe that you created some new amazing AI.

Why do people think...never mind.

What we're saying is that we don't believe you 'cause you got no proof! Simple as that...

We're not being rude, we're just saying that how do we know you've made such an awesome script when you can't give us proof? A one minute video isn't hard to make.

I could say that I made models ten thousand times better than EAI's, but that doesn't make it true.

4 hours isn't much. The WW2 gun I released in models and media was gradually completed over the time frame of four months, and hardly anyone's been blown away but I'm not whinging.

uM, I'M NOT HERE TO PROVE ANYTHING.
I was just trying to encourage those who dont know how to script to script.

I do not have to make a video to prove anything (i'm not quite done with the script yet anyways).

Now, i'm not wasting any more time.
Think im a liar if you want, I dont care.

Well you did come on here and bashed TGC's scripters, saying

Quote: "A lot of people hate the AI that come with FPSC.

I dont blame them, because i do also.
It is horrible.
"

Then went on to say that
Quote: "But i have made an AWESOME ai script that is actually fun to fight."

So without proof, how are we to believe that you outdid TGC and created an AI that is "actually fun to fight"

Ive posted in this script!!!!

Well GJ did you get the reply ages ago to a thread of mine when you said you would be scripting all friday? Cause i posted but in the my threads page it says that you were the last person to post with your anouncement....

Anyway i should say something about this subject of AI's. Does anyone know some decent Allied scripts (It doesnt even matter if they take dammage... As long as they fire at the enemy when you fire, and vise versa possibly...).

I have one allied script but he just constantly shoots once he sees an enemy and never stops... And when he does this shooting he's staring at the ground... Its wierd... So does anyone have a working script?

I'll give it a shot. It could take me ages though, as this ai script i did has probably taken 6 hours, and im still not quite happy with it. Whats your email mate?

shameless =p

Hockey's is the best out there, it has a very simple, down to eartch control scheme, although when I get to writing one, mine'll be better

I can actually only see one way Hockeys can be improved, it is nigh perfection.

Make the AI so it auto follows, rather than pressing F... but that's my opinion

I'll just say as a beginner scripter, with no background of anykind in scripting, I have spent over 100 hours perfecting simply three aspects of a ten element script...and theres probably 4-500 more hours going to go into it before it's finished.

And thats just one regular ai script

*sigh*

If you're trying to encourage people to learn how to script, the best way to do so would be to GIVE THEM A GOOD EXAMPLE of how learning to script makes your games better.

You haven't given an example. The only example you're setting ehre is a poor one, making a thread saying how you've made such an awesome script, and everyone's left wondering what the heck it looks or plays like or if it's even real.

If you didn't mind spending 6 hours writing a script, then I doubt pressing F10 (assuming you're using something like Fraps) at the beginning of one of your tests and then F10 again at the end of your test to take a video would be painful in the least. Take the filmed video and slap it on youtube. It's honestly not that hard.

I made a video, and then people started doing Ironsights, although I think maybe one of the 3 people I saw were actually inspired by me, as the others thought they were the first

you guys played 007 quantum of solace?
played soldier of fortune?

basically, the AI in those games is just as stupid as stock FPSC AI, yet with beautiful animations.

the AI in these games in fpsc would be as simple as: follow a waypoint out into the open, aim at the player and fire: sometimes bursts, sometimes auto. crouch if shot. STUPID. a TON of games AI could be EASILY done in FPSC with a regular stock combo.

I should write a guide.

I think I will.
_______

on another note, AI doesnt necessarily need to be as SMART as it should be FUN. fpsc Enemies are very smart, as they know to zig zag side to side when being shot at. omg, people on the kidnapper safety commercial tell you to do that. theyre smart, but look awkward and odd when being smart. rather than a total AI revamp, I'd like to see a total ANIMATION revamp.

@Bugsy:

I think the "skipping" animation they have for strafing is mainly what makes them look so retarded.
