I got a spam-mail from Kenneth Babila who asked for anyone to help him transfer money out of a country.

Anyway. As im sick tired of those idiots, i established a communication with him and after some mails i convinced him to get me his "lawers" phonenumber '44-795-7931454'. I'll i can figure out it that this is a UK phonenumber. But i didnt find what areacode it was.

Is there anyone from UK that can help me to find maby a phonecompany webpage or something that can identify this number?

I tried yell.com but didnt find anything usefull there.

44 is the code for UK, it replaces the 0 when making international calls. The number would be 07957 931454.

I dont think thats an area code, more like one of those premium £5 a minute lines, nope! just checked, it shows as a T mobile number, gets you onto a user on T mobile, probably a stolen phone anyway.

079 is a cellphone number, which most Lawyers won't use... my experience is you have to phone thier office and your patched through to where-ever they are. (or end up listening to musac for 10mins)

the only time i remember seeing a phone number written like that are in those stupid 1-800 commercials ... like
1-800-LOOSEFAT or something unwitty like that.

If it's not a nicked mobile then report it to T-Mobile. With any luck he is a complete idiot and never thought you could trace it back. Apparently phone companies can be quite nice if people are screwing you around.

Is there any chance that the 'lawer' have an unregistered phonenumber (with no name, adress etc.). Like a mobilephone refill cashcard? Or do they have to supply the company with personal information?

Is is a T-Mobile number for sure?

Not for sure you can move numbers to different networks for a small price, but the companies need your details.

When you get a UK pay as you go you do not have register your details. But you can if you want. Most people do. The best thing to do would be to get into contact with a fraud department, give them the number and a copy of the email if there is enough evidence they can trace the location of the phone and find out who/where he lives.

But before you do, try and get a land line as they are easier to trace.

If they are using the phone for fraud then it is unlikly that they are stupid enough to be using a phone that is registered or traceable in any way to them. It's unlikly they will give you a landline or other info but you can try.

well, the UK police have small 'squads' that do things, like a drug squad, piracy squad who look into the crimes.

I will try and find a telephone number or email address of the group that tackle online fraud, although it may take some time...

This is the UK's National High Tech Crime Unit which covers online fraud.

I would email them, but the chances of anything more than a verbal caution happening over the phone is unlikely, even a caution may be hard to come by...
