FPSC Classic Work In Progress / [X9] Automatic Update [BOTB]

Well I’ve just moved house, and while I awaited a phone and web connection I had a mess around with FPSC. I had yet to unpack all of my gear and backups, so I started with a virgin FPSC. I’ve continued with this single game project and have decided to share with you what I hope will emerge as a fun little game that started with ( and currently is about 99% ) stock media.

The story is pretty lightweight and I’m still thinking it through, but the main idea is down and I’ll share it with you as it develops, but don’t expect anything fancy

This is Automatic Update

It's sad how your better than most of us using all stock media. First post, btw.

P.S. Looks great!

Really nice to see you around these parts again, Wehtam_!
Great use of the stock media. And people say you can't make a good looking game using stock...

That's sick. You shouldn't be able to do that with stock media. I hate you.

Best.

Wow, thanks for the warm welcome guys and cheers for the feedback

I have a set idea for the story now, I need to tidy up a few rooms, add a handful more and then I’ll be working on the load/title screens just to help me with the image I’m after.

I'll add more bits and bobs as I steal the time, but I’m limiting myself to a 1 level affair to start with, I think the key is always to set yourself an achievable goal.

Cheers for the comments people

Well at the moment I’m experimenting with ambience and fog, I’m also working on dialog for the story.
I don’t suppose in my absence that there has been any new commands implemented that control fog i.e. range/distance ? I found an old thread by Lee Bamber which indicated that updated fog commands might be implemented.

I’m annoyed at myself because I wanted this to be a quick throw away game, but every time I sit down to work on it I want to add twists and turns and custom items. It’s annoying because in my current situation I don’t have the time to spend on it that I used too.

Here’s a screen grab I took just to show you guys that progress is still coming along. Personally I’m not a fan of this fog, it only works well in some areas, the default fog is so thick *cough* *cough*

Looks great Wehtam! I especially like the 'sci fi' branches off the speach HUD. As for fog, try this, It produces a faint white fog thats not to heavy on the eyes:

Keep it up

Stock Games!!!

I LOVE IT.
Nice game, Wehtam.
But what about the "Bird of Prey" game.
You should continue on it.
And release it...

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the lack of news and thanks for your patience, it’s been a CRAZY week. I had no idea how much hard work living on your own could be, suffice to say I am now the king of ironing work shirts

The level is more or less complete, I’m happy with it, ill what remain is audio and menu elements. I must stress this game is not very long, but I hope you’ll get some enjoyment out of it.

FPS is 36 in most cases, lowest has been 30 when the action gets hot.

In terms of a demo, I’m actually planning on just releasing the entire thing as soon as it’s done. I’m hoping to steal a few hours of time this weekend, I just need to do some voice acting

I think this should be BOTB, it shows how good a game can be with only stock media.

Looks pretty flipping awesome.

The only crit I have is that the supports aren't extremely well placed. In the second shot I think you should add some vertical supports every third horizontal one or something.

So THAT'S what stock media looks like when it's used correctly.

You're just doing everything right, Wehtam_.

Boys and girls, do try this at home.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your comments, I just thought I'd pop in to say progress is still going steady.

Currently im working on audio and onscreen messages, then its the loading screen et voila! complete.

I wouldn't want to show any more screens as the maps isn't huge so I wouldnt want to reveal all the surprises. Thanks for your patience

As usual _Mathew, your work blows me away, and I can't believe your good at using stock, but other than that, you need to flesh out the enviroment a little more...

I loved it man! It makes me wonder though,
how did you get those hud messages to do like that?
I want to know because I'm wanting text to pop up when
you get a message from a person over your radio.

Can anyone help me out on that?

Wow Wehtam! Downloading now, this looks amazing! Great use of stock media! Great that you're back. We thought you ditched us for your more "professional" work!
Best use of stock media I've ever seen.
Sorry for the offtopic, and mods can punish me if they want, but what happened to your vital segments pack? I was too late before the link was dead... Hope we can find it somewhere else.
I can do voice acting free if you want. As much as you like.
