Hi everyone,

it's been a while. Last time I was making a little sci-fi game, but the lack of time rendered the project to oblivion.
Since then, I've played many games, and had in the back of my mind a little game, something like Dark Messiah and so.

I'm not making a full game, it's mainly my tests with X10.
I'm calling these tests "Sword and Axe".

Tell me what you think.

Awesome man. I would hope you plan on removing the health bar, doesn't fit in any game really. If I were you, I would do it as I make the levels, takes away alot of problems later on.

Really nice! I love seeing the fantasy stuff put to good use!

Model Pack 23 is Model Pack 18's bitch.

EDIT: I take that back - I was thinking MP23 was Jon Fletcher's pack, and was just having a little fun. No disrespect to anyone intended.

Another screen, this time the first one on level 2. I'm going to test an outdoor level, since I finished the first already.

It's very WIP. I'll be adding ropes and such as decor entities, to make it look better and not so empty.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I'm hoping that the outdoor are doesn't put too much of a frame strain, cause that would be awesome.

It doesn't. I'm using only clean models, and won't let it lag, i'll choose the models wisely. I was planning on doing something like this on the first level, but It would lag , because it would be dungeons+outside, simply not possible.

But take a look on how it's going.

Another screen, with updated balcony.
The roofs in WW2 have no interior textures, but they look good on the outside lol. I'll figure that out later.

Final screen showing level 2, concerning lights and so.

Now on to level 3, that is set on an island.

Level 1: you are left on a dungeon, at the end you use a row boat to get out.
Level 2: you lost your boat, have to get another.
Level 3: you get lost and arrive at an island.

This is the level 3 first screen. It's not really free roam, as it's not possible in FPSC, it would lag like hell. But it's acomplished with invisible walls. The play has a path that has a width of 2 squares in Map editor.

It's very WIP.

I've decided that level 3 will take place on daylight. It looks nice, and since it's in an island, there's much vegetation and much sun lol

Take a look.

KeithC it's not your wooden barrel! But now I might use it.

Updates:

Level 4 will still be on the island.
Finishing level 3.
All my levels will be small, because I'm mainly testing X10, as stated before. The levels will all have custom sounds and Videos. After this, maybe a full game.

I could have done in X9, with custom Bloom and Water mods, and a fps mod. But X10 has these features implemented already. Besides, I don't know when the migration will occur, and even if it will!

Thanks for the comments.

I've decided to prepare a 3 level demo, showing what I've done till now. More to come soon.

As level 4 will be in the deep forest, I figure that I would need a lot of trees and lush vegetation. I've decided to make some hi-quality decals, because FPSC X10 can't take the amount of vegetation I want without fps drops.
It works like this: I take the screen capture in game, then select and clean them in GIMP. In the following screen, only 3 trees are 3d models. The others are panes. It works very nicely, and they keep a very nice level of detail. It's the first test.

Take a look.

Another test, where it's even more difficult to find the diferences, using reflections and so. It's great for decor. The player will have the real models near him, and the others a bit far. It's not a new technique, of course, but I'm liking the way it goes. I tought of it while playing COD 5. It happens at a smaller scale, but if the best use it, why not me?

UPDATE:

In Level 1 the collision problems have been solved and added/changed some of the models. The enemies can now be killed with 1 or 2 arrows, but continue very agressive.

First screen of level 4, with my newest decals and featuring an old model of mine (still on sale, btw) with a different texture, so it's a ruin right now.

I got the 3d models from the forum, but I made the decals. The terrain is from the Landscape Kit, have it for ages, search for it here in the forum too.
Some of the models are either mine or modified by me to suit my needs.

Thanks for the comments.

I've decided that this small test will have 6 levels.

The first four are already done.
The fifth will be in a desert.

Final Screen of level 4.
