TDK made a great little level editor in DarkBasic - http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=125358&b=10

I've been finding this extremely useful. As far as I can tell, it's the only level editor that does what I want - lets me place objects and then save the level as a script so that I can write my own game engine to load the objects in and manipulate them however I want. I'm using DBPro but obviously the scripts that TDK's level editor generates are compatible with that, because they're just text documents.

I wanted to ask TDK if he's ever likely to finish the program, but its thread is locked and TDK's listed email here doesn't work, so I thought I'd start a new thread about it. I think it does very much need greater control over the camera than it currently has - even something as simple as allowing the user to move around with the arrow keys would be very handy. Also, greater control over the floor would be very helpful, such as allowing the user to specify its dimensions and location, and apply a texture of their own.

So TDK, if you see this, I don't know how likely it is that you'll dust this one off, but I thought I'd at least let you know that it's being used and appreciated even as it is! And to anyone else - if there are other level editors that export in script form in the same way I'd be very interested to hear, as I think this is by far the most flexible approach to this kind of thing. Importing levels as scripts means you can control which objects are shown, depending on where the player is: this means you can easily create large, open worlds divided into zones without making the different zones different levels.

He popped in like 5 months ago for a week, but left after like a week and a half. I'm doubtful he'll come back, although he has been known to return after long periods.

Time is money. I just ripped you off.
