Well, as promised, I'm going to release the 3 level demo of my tests with X10.

Called "SWORD&AXE", the demo only contains two ranged weapons, have still to buy melee ones.

KNOWN BUGS (MANY):
- Level 1
On level 1, 2 of the enemies have health bar, forgot to take it.
- Level 2
On level 2, there are some graphical bugs, because of incorrect entity/segment placement.
- Level 3
On level 3, the lighting/bloom setting is not correctly set.
There are many graphical bugs.

There are no videos or cutscenes in these test demo. There aren't any in game music.

As said before, this is not a real game.
Enjoy, if possible!

Man I wish I had an X10 capable PC, 'cos this looks like it's worth playing...

Great job. You should give either more health, or more lives. It's too hard to make it to the end of level 3. In level 3 there were also some collision problems with the terrain. However, I never once notice a drop in framerate, and it looked awesome! Keep it up, mate.

Thanks for the comments!

CG I'm going to use X10 for now, since the updates that it's running X9 media very smoothly! Thanks for wanting to play this small demo nonetheless!

Yes, I must add more apples(health) to the demo.
In level 3, it's not the terrain that has collision problems, it's just the invisible segments I use. I have to make the player able to get to wider areas.I used only 2 x square radius. I'm going to fix that. Thanks!

Glad you didn't had fps drops, I tried hard not to get any model that caused it.

Hey there! I played your demo and will break it down level by level.

Level 1

I liked the atmosphere that was set at the start of this level. I wouls suggest moving the first bow away from that corner of the room though because at the moment it is out of the players view when he enters the room. In turn, the room is not big enough to make the player want to look around and spot them. At the first split in the corridors I took the right-hand path and killed the first enemy, however, it was a dead-end and there was nothing in the room - a bit pointless, perhaps? I liked the musical choice for the level and thought it fit well.

My main problem with this level (and infact, all of them) were the enemies. I found killing them extremely tedious. They should have died much more easily as your mapping does not fit your current combat sections well. The narrow corridors and doorways do not work when you find yourself constantly running backwards down them shooting enemies infront of you.

Level 2

I got some slowdown here, interestingly when I crossed the bridges. I also didn't like how I could jump into the water to find that all the buildings were floating in mid-air. Perhaps you should create a hazy fog so that underwater, vision is too obscurred to actually see these flaws. This level also had the tedious fighting. You definetally need to lower the enemy health and give the player a faster weapon. Another problem I had was the soundtrack (exact same as the previous level). The game would come alive with alot more sound (of which at the moment there is none, except for the repetitive music).

Level 3

In my opinion the worst level of the 3. The landscape looks really nice in the screens, so hopefully you will add those lighting effects to a later demo.

Invisible walls are an absolute "no" when enemies get involved. It is just stupid to have long range weapons in an open area with invisible walls in the way. I thought the crossbow was a strange choice of second weapon as it didn't seem to make any improvement? I also thought the tower was a bit dull and the enemies had collision issues. SAME MUSIC :/

All in all, it was pretty good for a first demo, keep at it!

Butt monkey, thanks for the review.

As such:

On level 1,
- i'm working on some collision issues reported by S4real;
- Will add a melee weapon;
- As for the music, it's going to be the one I chose.

On level 2,
- haven't work out a way to make a convincing below water effect, still thinking how to do it.
- Will add seagull sounds and stuff like that, at least to make the player dream he is in a credible world.
- the music will be changed, of course.

On level 3,

- the lighting effects are going to be featured in the next demo.
- the invisible walls have been expanded to 3x3 and 4x4 radius, so now it's harder to fire the bow and have it blocked by one.
- Will add my new hi quality decals to make the graphics richer.
- Will add distant animal sounds(monkeys, birds and such)
- The music will be different, again.

And that's it for now!
Thanks again everyone for downloading.
