I recently downloaded Paint.net, and I have been having a great time retexturing things, but my textures are always too clean, or too simple. Any tips on how to make textures like Apple Slicer's, Wolf's, or even just grunge textures.

Here is a screenshot of my textures. The books and the knife (knife is at the lower part of the screen) are all custom textures. As you can see, the books look very childish.

I use CGTextures. You do have to give them credit, but that's fine with me.

Well, the Main Thing you should do is setting down the saturation.

Now, I dont know what features Paint.Net has, but you can email me the textures and I`ll work on them.

Your work with 3500 Chronicles is amazing. You deserve the complements.

What about me...?

I don't know if you had them in that screenshot, but one of the standard things you should do is include normal and specular maps, that's like a requirement nowadays. They automatically give your textures an edge over ones that don't include them. Plus it just makes them look purty.

A picture says a thousand words.

Lol, I've www.cgtextures.com too but I've really exhausted all the cool textures they have. I'm turning now to buy my own camera and taking my own texture pics.

I have been trying to make a custom texture for the scifi blaster to make it look better, but I can't get the texture to work on the player held gun. Any idea how I can get it to work?

Don't know if this would work for re-textured weapons. But its what I do with anything that comes with x10 to be able to change textures or norm/specular maps. Place all of the files of that weapon into a new folder. Cause for some reason if it came with x10 it will not let you edit it with out moving it to the user folder or a folder of your own.(might be because I use to not delete my dbo and bin files. The edit part But worth a shot..)

Thanks Seth. I already got the texture working in game, but it only works with the weapon pickup. Now Im trying to get the texture into the weapon's main script, but when I put it in the user folder, it doesn't do anything.

I Use Adobe Fireworks For My Textures. I Just Use The Trial Version, But You Can Buy It If You Want To. I Also Use DXTBMP To Convert DDS Textures To Bitmap Textures. Here Is A Link To A Screne Shot.

You Can Download My DDS Texture By Clicking The Orange Download Button At The Right Botton Corner Of My Post.
