Just thought I'd say a few words (I decided to put this under X10 since X10 was the first TGC product I purchased and is by far my favorite and was the one that brought me to these forums and has had great influence on where I'm at now)

Tomorrow (or is it today?), Saturday May 30, 2009, I officially graduate from high school. I'm kind of in a state of shock to tell the truth

FPSC X10 and these forums have been a big part of my whole high school career. While the war at school went on (let's be honest, high school can be brutal at times ), X10, TGC and this forum provided a second playground, one that was just as fun, interesting and challenging. It hasn't always been easy naturally, but that's all part of the game and it wouldn't be the same if it weren't so. FPSC X10 was the first tool I got my hands on that really let me unleash my creativity (as it has no doubt done to countless others) and drove me to learn more about game making in general and things wouldn't be the same without it.

I'm glad and thankful for TGC, all the tools they provide to make game making accessible and for these forums for providing a developer central for all things TGC and for providing a meeting place for like-minded people with common interests. I want to thank you all, may TGC continue to succeed and to all the other graduating seniors out there, good luck and congratulations (we made it!)
I bid you all goodnight (it's 1:25am local time ) and have a great summer!

A picture says a thousand words.

Nice one Jingle Fett

Congrats on the graduation and your love affair with FPSC.

Its an incredible game engine and FPSC X10 has a lot of potential for making great games. If Lee gets some of the more urgent bugs fixed in v110 we should be in good shape for the migration.

For me its the best game engine in the world. It just needs a little refining here and there.

Gongrats man hope college goes smooth for ya..

Tell you the truth it is a real good engine the only thing missing from it is a terrain editor.. Ive been messing with frycry2 map editor and its just like fpscx10 they just added a terrain editor in.. If we got the light maps and a.i. fixed(were they had better following waypoint, path finding and the light map didn't make stuff look so low poly.) and add the terrain editor we would have the best engine in the world for Indies..

I already congratulated you over at the community forums, but I'll do it again here. Good job Jingle. I hope this means you'll be showing more of Hotel Kuat soon. Have one on the house, you deserve it:

@seth zer0: I love FC2's editor, its the best part of the game. My main gripe is that all the tips out there are for the console versions-_-. Those all seem like necessities that would be easy to implement, other then the terrain editor. Personally, I'd like FPSC's realm's to eventually be expanded into First-person RPG games too. I mean with skills and inventory and such.

@seth zer0

Yup. We really need the ai and lightmapping fixed.

Terrain support in the editor would be cool but it can be achieved without. The other 2 are major bugs right now.

Hope these get fixed in v110 otherwise it's going to be a long wait for the migration.

Yes it can be archive, but imagine if it was integrated into the engine. The possibility that would be opened up to us would be amazing.. But I would like the other two things to be fixed first. Just a suggestion for the future of fps creator..

Yeah it would be really cool if the editor supported terrain generation. It would be great if we could build maps like in 3D world studio and have them load in FPSC with no collision issues also.

I'd also like it if we could scale entities in the editor aswell as rotating them like in other modern map editors.

Nice to see the Far Cry 2 map editor getting a mention.

You may want to check out the official Far Cry 2 map editing book which was recently released. I wrote the book with contributions from other Far Cry 2 map makers:

I too would like to see a terrain engine added to FPSC. Even better, I would like to see Leadwerks (which The Game Creators distributes) ship with an easy-to-use game making toolset.

Leadwerks already has perhaps the most realistic natural environments of any affordable game engine.

Thanks David, I had heard of that before but I didn't know it was out. I'm glad to see that it has a section on urban warfare

Anyways, on topic: Out of curiosity, what are you planning to do now Jingle?

I graduated friday the 29th from high school. It is one of the greatest feelings ever. The rest of my high school is still in school this week too which makes the feeling even better.
Anyway, congrats man.

I was playing around with the Leadwerks engine sandbox and noticed it is very simple to use. If TGC got a terrain editor like leadwerks' it would be amazing. I am trying to follow some of the leadwerks tutorials to actually build a game and they are wayyyy to complicated. It will take me years to get a grip on C++.
