FPSC Classic Scripts / Forest Script?

Would it be possible to have a script for trees so that if the player is far away from the tree it will be a flat billboard, a little closer would make it a X billboard tree, and closer still will make it a high poly tree? this is not a request, just a "is it possible" question.

Ehm, I'd say no... at least I can not imagine how to do that in a useful way.

You can not save resources that way in FPSC.

I'd suggest to make trees that the player can come near to quite detailed, but most of the trees should be billboards, maybe even only segment textures (and not be accessable).

Creating whole forests will be... extremely difficult

You would have to make every single tree dynamic for that, anyway.

No need to mention that isn't exactly saving resources...

Well:
- First of all, you can call it a lod system.
- then everything should be dynamic with physiks off.
- now you need to place a tree (point2), and at the exact same place a biilboardedtree,
- then make ascript so when you get near the tree you willsee a nornal detailed tree, and when you are further you will see the billboarded tree. You can even add a code so they smooth out away. Fade out effect.
- or you can make a fully lod system(i made one) , but then you will need plysmod
