Hello,

I recently purchased both model packs 9 and 10 and i'm trying to create my custom animations for some of the weapons in the pack. I really don't want my game looking the same as the other games that use the weapons from the model pack, and the animation, followed by textures, are the keys to create a better customization.

However, none of the 3D modeling applications i used succeeded while importing the .X models. I tried with 3DS Max 8, 3DS Max 10 on another computer, Softimage Mod Tool, Caligari Truespace and Milkshape. This is really really annoying and i'm starting to think that the files are protected or compressed.

I paid for the model pack and it would be interesting if we, customers, could download the models in another decent format, such as .MAX or .FBX, so i can make my modifications and export back to .X for FPSC use.

Fragmotion works about 50/50.

They are compressed; partially for protection. If easily editable files were provided, the packs would have cost more which wouldn't have been fair to the majority of users who just plug it in and go. Even if you lost all of the existing animation and started from scratch you would likely still save money on game suitable content vs. Turbo Squid, etc.

It is unknown at this time if .FBX or other formats will added on to MPs 9/10 in the future but it is possible.

If you feel you can not use the pack media, you can contact TGC and request a refund.

edit: Why make a dupe. account to post this?

Just tried using the software trial and most of the models, both mesh and animation, are messed up. Same with the 3DS Max X importer.

Protection against...? We legally purchased the model packs and we should have access to the media that has been sold. Otherwise, state so on the website. I didn't purchased the model packs to use them just like they were published, i would like to make my own modifications, just like i always do with other FPS Creator model pack media. Why the weapons would be different?

I don't believe it's fair or even legal to PROTECT the media we purchased.

The lack of replies to my emails and my message here in the thread lead me to believe that Errant AI, the author of the weapons present in model pack 9 and 10, has no respect for it's customers, by protecting the media they legally purchased and forcing them to don't make any modifications at all to the media.

I'll be purchasing media from other providers, such as Torque model packs, and converting to FPS Creator, since they provide the models not only in .MAX format, but 3DS, FBX and many others, allowing us to do what we need. I highly recommend that other FPS Creator customers do the same.

Errant AI, your work is good, but without proper customer relationship and care, it's really just another media pack for game creators, and extremely replaceable.
