I don't see your game as a text game at all. It's a really cool game but I would remove the need to press the enter button every time you want to search a place. Since you use the mouse already for everything else you can easily add clicking on the room name box to search the room instead of hitting enter.
Also you should allow the user to leave without his/her weapon. If their too stupid to not see "My weapon is somewhere in here." they deserve to die right away.
I love the map function too. It would be cooler if you expanded it to full screen and use it to quickly go from one location to another (if you've been there already)... of course add the occasional encounter if they use the map to move.
If you enter a room full of people and you try to talk to somebody and you see the same person every time it kinda defeats the illusion there are many people there. Maybe pick a random picture of people... games do this all the time... the people say the same stuff but at least it's a different face. You could show them before the user decides to talk to them (say in the upper right corner of the screen). Give us the ability to talk to different people in the same room by clicking on their picture in that corner. You can even give them different things to say. The King could be hanging out with the court jester and/or the Kings Adviser that secretly wants to be King.
The Kings quest was cool but I felt like I got gypped by the King. I risk my life to get his damn sword and I get a measly 30 gold?... I've rescued cats from trees for more gold than that.
All in all it's a great game and keep up the good work.
