Mass beta testing eradicates bugs faster ... I guess it was a good decision to go public with the beta, they should have done this earlier ... but as they say, better late than never.

yes is right, avoid DBDN testers, go with public test.... so less bugs in patch 5 than patch 4.1. (We hope that)

Well, judging by the amount of bugs still in Beta 3, I hope it's not coming out in next few days!

To be fair, I don't think DBDN testers were a problem, I don't think there are enough of them to test any beta's effectivly. That's possibly why the current beta's have gone public, there are alot more of us that can complain if something is not right

After "thumbing" through the bugs in the bug forum, I see there still a number of graphical & compiler issues to sort out, so, yep it needs at least one more public beta test.

I didn't even download any of the Beta's, just decided to wait for the final release, hope it's worth it.

@Exeat & Yellow

In which case, unless you are working on a major project and don't have the space for a seperate test installation, please don't complain if your code doesn't work with U5 release.

Regardless, many long standing compiler bugs have now been fixed and U5 Beta 3 seems pretty stable on the whole.

The public testing scheme certainly revealed many bugs that would not otherwise have been found - I'm glad the TGC staff decided to go for it
