Hi all,

after testing and getting some results in X10 concerning outdoor tests(some of you tried my outdoor levels will fairly good fps), I've decided to test the great X9 Mod, Project Blue.
I'm creating a large city, or at least large for FPSC terms.
Here I'll post some screens with the beta version of Blue Mod I'm currently testing.
The city ocuppies almost the entire FPSC Map editor area, and like 80% is outdoors.
This test features both static and dynamic entities.

As I said before, the Blue Mod is great work by S4real and Ply.

Wow, that looks great! The ambient lighting is superb!
Looks like a real city to me so far from these screens

But uh, A: The light sources for the streetlamps are a little too low, try to put it near the bulb, or do what you did, put a light on the floor beneath but also put a small one up at the bulb, that might work

All the best

Thanks for the comments!

Ekipshi:

the light sources for the streetlamps have been removed for now, since I'm trying to reproduce that kind of orange light that appears on the end of the day, in summer (at least here in Lisbon, on July and August). After the level is complete, I'll make a night version of it, and there I'll use the street lamps!

Cool! Sounds good man, like i said before i really like the simulated sunlight there, it looks amazing

I need to play around with that stuff a little

One more thing, theres a ghost person walking in the windows of your buildings! A ghost tree as well! I know, that pack comes with textures that have reflections stuck on the texture from the photo lol.

All the best!

You show off
Ah well it is nice

Some of the buildings are half lit though like the one in the upper left on the last screen.

Keep it up!
Hope we can see a demo of this soon

Thanks again.

some of the building are half lit because the sun is shining at a low altitude, so some of the buildings cast shadows on others.

It looks really good. The problem with photo building textures is they come with reflections in the windows. Nothing better than having reflections of trees in the windows where there are no trees. Perhaps you can copy and paste portions of the windows with little or no reflection.

Excellent city mark-up and design. The streets and walks look great, though the square edges distract a bit. All curbs here have rounded corners.

Brian.

Well if you could find us a curved curb corner *cough*
lol, just playing

Ya, i agree with xplosys there alimpo, maybe just edit the windows a bit so there's no... "people" and "trees" lol

Thanks Xplosys and Ekipshi for the crits & comments..

I'm going to edit the textures, after the level is complete and have light placement finished.

I created the walk textures from reference photos. I'm pretty sure that on the tons of segments I have here, I have a round corner to use with this. Have to search lol.

New screens.

Looks alright, but on the second screen of your last post, you use the same graffiti over and over again. This was supposed to use once

Thanks Wolf.

Yes, it's only a placeholder. But the textures are very good, nice work on that.

This looks pretty good. Will it be an empty city, or will it have respawning people that you can go around killing? A sandbox FPSC game would be really fun.

After the level geometry is done, I'll be adding details, of course.

I have some questions for you.

Where did you get those building models in the 1st pic this post?

And where did you get the floor segment in post:

Just wondering! Looks good BTW!

Thanks everyone!

Astek:

I got the buildings from the forum, I think it's called Buildings Pack or something like that. I edited some of the textures, and made variations of the same buildings. Simple stuff, but that can really make a difference, I think. Yet I have to edit some of the buildings, to erase ghost people and trees from the windows.
The floor segment got from here too, It's the Landscape Pack.

I'mn continuing my tests with Blue Mod. I'm having some problems with it at about 380 entities on a level(50 or so different ones) with lightmaps at high quality, but it should be my pc or FPSC engine,or the mod combinations I use (BM+Dll mod) lol.I have problems on the compiling of the level, it simply crashes at some point. But I'll continue the tests!

In the meanwhile, a small video showing the current progress, but only with quick quality lightmaps.

BTW, i wrote "Preformance" instead of "Performance" in the video!

Thanks.

That was amazing, any tips on creating a large city environment. Also is this just a test or are you going to make this into an actual game.

Well, this is a test for now.

SGJB:
I'm testing it so that I can make a game in the future. I need to know what can be pulled in FPSC with Blue Mod, so that I actually buy it and use it on a regular basis.

Maybe in the future I'll make a small tutorial about creating convincing city levels.

Thanks for the comments.
