hi everyone, and yes, i know you are thinking "why? whay shadowfire? why did you post 3 threads on one game?"
well, it's becuase...

1. the... a-hem, "original" what lies beneath was scrapped. (for obvious reasons)
2. the other version has also been scrapped, due to bad level design and a mess-up with me trying to downgrade FPSC to v1.09.
3. this version's better!

i probbably won't be able to make a absolutely top-notch game, seeing as i only have 20-ish days to do it, but anyway, here's my current progress...

-done
-in progress
-not started

LEVEL 1
LEVEL 2
LEVEL 3
LEVEL 4
LEVEL 5 (if i have time)
PROLOGUE (if i have time)

development is going pretty quickly, with the basic level one just about finished in 2 days.

anyway:

Interesting, so are you taking a linear approach?

The screens look a tad bland, but otherwise good.

Can't wait to judge this one.

you're a judge? erk...
well, in a sense, i am taking a linear approach, but the levels can often have seperate ways to go, and you will often have to backtrack to get keys and such.

level one is still in development, and thanks for the advise, i'll make the screens more varied.

my computer blue-screened as i was saving my level, and i have LOST ALL OF IT.
i'm afraid words can't describe how annoyed i am, but maybe this can come close.

no, i don't think that did it.

does anyone have any ideas if i can recover it at all?

There is a couple of programs that can backup your folders (specified) online, running in the background.

My laptop got Blue Screen once, but they were able to recover the whole hard-drive. I think, I have so much crap on there I don't know if any's missing. Anyways, sounds like you need...

FLOPPIES

ONTOPIC:
Quote: "you're a judge? erk..."

Yeah, I found I couldn't do what I wanted to with my entry in the short time-span. I was also really busy, and didn't have much time to work on it. I still wanted to participate, so I became a judge.

Anyways, I hope it works.

right, well i used recover my files, saved the .fpm file of my level (it also came with a temp.fpm file, which dissapeared after saving...) and when i tried to run it with FPSC, it said loading level for about 20 seconds, then it said the application has encountered a problem and needs to close.

[EDIT]

right, i found where temp.fpm goes (editors gridedit... nothing in there apart form a .cfg file, is this definately the right place?)
same thing happened.
would there be other files i would need to get it working again... like ones that aren't .fpm?

ok, sorry guys, but i've had to withdraw from the competition, simply because i don't have enough time and to many things are going wrong.

however, i have started work on a new game... and that i fully intend to finish.

MODS, PLEASE LOCK THIS THREAD, and if you could, can you put "now closed" on the thread title? thanks.

hey! i didn't say anyhting about darkest depths...
and yeah, i'm sorry to guys, it's just i do not have the time to finish it, i messed around with game ideas for to long, and that's it.

but... on a lighter note, progress on my new game is going well, i'm not going to say anything yet, apart from it's going to use the apple juice mod, and it'll feature replicators... confused? you will be.
