Hey guys. Can someone tell me what the maximum resolution for a hud can be. The Most common I've seen is 72. Will they still work if they are made say, at 150dpi?

Probably. Couldn't hurt to try.

Are you talking about the HUD's for numbers and whatnot? Because I've seen people do HUDs that are the resolution of the screen.

Well, See I had this idea of producing a weapon that resembles a mechanical arm with say something like a minigun mounted on the end. And I wanted to design a hud that would give the impression of being inside the mech suit.

In photoshop, I can gain more detail with a texture that is for example: 1024 X 768 at 150 dpi. rather than the standard 72 dpi. resolution.

I guess trial and error will be the road to take then. Thanks!

You could use 150ppi without any problems especially since your only using one image for your full screen hud and you will have a lot of transparency in such an image, its fairly standard to use a very high res or increase image size when creating textures or images then reduce to keep up the quality, especially when using text.
