Hi there.

I have downloaded John Fletchers Plasma Rifle and managed to aquire a pickup for it. I used this in levels I have been building for some time. However, the model was not rotated correctly and so I tried to fix this using the trail version of milkshape - This didn't go well.

Whatever happened, I lost the pickup model and now whenever I try to open my levels I get an error. What's worse is that the person I originally got the model from no longer has it. This is a serious problem as I now have no means of opening and working on my maps without the model. I've been building the maps in question for months now and so I would hate to lose all of the work.

I know requests are frowned upon on the board, but I would think that this request is of slightly different circumstances than most. As you can see, I have hit a serious problem and the only realistic solution I can think of is asking here. If anyone has a pickup model for the rifle would they possibly be able to send it to me? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

It's called a backup. Never overwrite original files. I believe you can download the gun from FPS-Files.com.

thanks

I'll edit that model for you mate, gimme a minute and I'll help you over MSN...

If I was ever given the opportunity to remove all the bad from the world, I wouldn't, because for there to be heroism, compassion and all that is good, there must also be all that is bad.

Hi

I feel a bit stupid.I originally didn't think it came with any x files which I could use to repair the damage but I completely forgot about the Hud.x which I'm guessing I can use.

@ CG

Thanks for the offer, sorry I wasn't on at that time. I think I should be able to edit the model myself now.

...affirmative.

You should also be able to work with the VWEAP.x file, for creating a suitable weapon pickup.

Hi Seth, the VWEAP.X for the rifle was the default assault rifle, hence why I couldn't use it.

Thanks.

Hi

I wonder if you guys could help me out again.

CoffeeGrunt has helped me with getting this weapon working properly in FPSC so that it has a pickup model and works correctly with characters. The pickup is fine but when the gun is given to an enemy it reverses itself so that it is back to front.

CoffeeGrunt has tested the gun himself and can't see anything wrong with the vweap.x etc, however the gun is facing the wrong way on characters for him aswell.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is there a way of correcting this?

Yay, an easy way to make enemies do suicide! Would be cool for a horror game, lol.

Anyway, does it face the wrong way with the player?

Lol

No, it is facing the correct way when in the hands of the player.

Ok.

Now that we've clarified that, anyone have a suggestion?

Take your vweap.x file and open it up with whatever you use (like Fragmotion) and rotate the weapon 180 degrees and then export it back into FPSC.Theoretically, that should work.Of course it might not which is why I advise you to back up your vweap.x file before you change it.

Hi Fred.

We've already tried that and it makes no difference. However, I moved the gun up and forward a bit and it suddenly works. While the gun fire doesn't match up with the barrel of the gun it's better than nothing and I really can't be bothered anymore xD
