All i'm trying to initially do is create an animated sprite that displays on the screen. I have a sprite sheet that is four frames across by four frames down and i've searched the forums for help but can't find the help i'm looking for. I'm certain it's something very simple and stupid that i'm doing but I'm not sure what.

I have such a headache from this.

ok, um, I don't know why but it fixed itself ... sorry.

Too turn this into a different topic and not waste it totally, how come when I set a background image using paste image, and I have a sprite the background image doesn't show?

Are you pasting the image every loop? Maybe try turning on the backdrop?

Yeah, Deego is right. Every time you use a sprite the background has to be pasted to the screen because using sprites causes the blue background (their treated just like a 3D plain).
