Hey all, first post, woot woot!

So, I've been considering buying FPS Creator, but from what I've seen/tried, the level editor seems rather limited in the kind of geometry and quality of geometry you can create. So, I know it's possible to bring in custom models...would it be possible to "model" an entire map in something like 3DS Max? Being able to model an entire map in 3DS as opposed to using the FPSC level editor could really help to achieve a huge boost in the quality of levels, but thats from my limited experience with FPSC. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
- Tommy

that is absolutely possible- In fact, some of the BEST maps in FPSC are 3d models instead of segments. and you could also put some entities in on top of the model for the map, that'd be ultimate detail.

Hey Tommy, and welcome aboard. Once you learn the basics of how to build models for the FPSC engine, you can pretty much make any type of level you can think of. As far as building an entire level which would include ground surfaces, structures and so-on, the main issue you will face is collision. In some cases it may work just fine depending on the type of level you are building, but the combined use of segments, and entities eliminates 99% of this problem.

Depending on your POV, this can be good or bad. If your looking for an engine that can produce game levels easily, and with a relativly small learning curve FPSC is the way to go.

Good luck, and hope to see some of your work soon here on the forums. All my best.

I've never had collision problems building maps as 3d models.

Really? I'm running into a mess of 'em with the new cave pack I'm working on. The player gets hung up, and locked in place, especially where two seperate ground entities meet.
