Is there some kind of underground passage, thats low and narrow so the player has to crawl, out there? Like the under-the-floor crawlspaces in fatal frame 3? I know about the sci fi one in the corridor category in fpsc by default, which is metal, but i need something thats either wooden, stone or concrete. Oh yea, and i would prefer for it to be a segment.

At night i lay awake on my bed, gazing up at the stars, and wonderi-hey, where'd the roof go?

The only thing I could think of, if you needed or preferred sticking with segments, is a simple retexture of the sci-fi corridor you mentioned - seems to be the closest segment to what you're looking for, and (not speaking from actual knowledge or experience), try opening up the texture for that corridor in Paint.net and giving it wooden or concrete walls, floors, or whatever need be.

Another way is you could have a layer of segment beneath your initial room, and then three quarters up the bottom layer, put a floor entity with a concrete texture. So when you're dropping from the top layer of segments to the bottom, you're simply dropping just a little, into a crawl space like area, and then you can crawl around beneath the bottom of the top layer on the floor entity.

Just some ideas, hope this helped man.

Cheers

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

Make a complete copy of the sci-fi vents, open the fps for them and use a different texture. You'll also need to change the materialindex in the fps file to another number (as 3 is metal).

This is what I did for Get Out: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=145689&b=35

Uh... you just make a complete copy of the sci-fi corridor, open up the texture (the directory can be found in the fpe file), and open it up in GIMP, Paint.net, Photoshop, whatever image program you use, and retexture it to be wooden, steel, and such.

How do i get to the fpe file?

EDIT: I found the fps file, but it won't let me open it with paint or photoshop, it says for paint that its not a valid bitmap file, and for photoshop it says that it isnt the right kind of file.

1/. Take a copy of all the vent files and place them into another folder in the segments folder so as not to override the originals.

2/. Open up an fps file in notepad (it's a text file) and find the lines that say:

texture0 = texturebank\scifi\corridors\metal\cd_d_01_d2.tga
...
...
...
texture1 = texturebank\scifi\corridors\metal\cd_d_01_d2.tga
...
...
...

3/. Change these lines to point to your chosen texture, for example:

texture0 = texturebank\mytextures\woodtextures\mywoodentexture.tga
...
...
...
texture1 = texturebank\mytextures\woodtextures\mywoodentexture.tga
...
...
...

4/. Do this for all the lines that say "texture" with a number after them.

5/. Now look for the lines that say:

materialindex0 = 3
...
...
...
materialindex1 = 3
...
...
...

6/. The '3' refers to a sound under "Files/audiobank/materials". Just play around with this number to get the correct sound when walking on the vent.

I hope that helps you. Any more questions then please ask.
