Small Demo download REMOVED! A new demo will be up as soon as I get most bugs sorted out...

This is my new WIP project (that will be PWP's first official commercial project) after I abondoned Primordial... it's called Blackcloud (a.k.a. Operation Blackcloud). It will be commercial (yes, I'm aware that it's no where near being commercial/professional, yet I promise that we'll get this looking commercial once it's done), unless you are an official beta tester. It'll be on sale for around 5 U.S. dollars.

Mod used:
-efxMod: Codename Europa (as of early November 2009)

Features:
- NO GUNS USED WHATSOEVER! Who said that every video game needs guns the player can use (example: Portal, Mario, etc.)? I tried to go towards a non-player-to-other-living-things-violence theme, although the use of weapons is present during and is used by and during sightings of Yilnawakee gaurds.
- Loads of custom media (off of the GC Store, custom-made, and others, used under licenses/read-me's)
- (*NEW*) !!!Voice Acting!!! - used when the gaurds in the first level see you.

Storyline:
The year is 2013. Not much has changed in this world. Most of the planet has been changed ever since World War III. Nearly 90% of all countries have been destroyed and now bathe in grunge and house numerous diseases. Yet now a new man-made disease has risen. The government of a newly found country, called Yilnawakee, has gone mad; thinking that the planet would suffer like this for various years on end. They then rose up and made a horrible solution and an end to the years of filth to come. They called it Operation Blackcloud. The plan was to inject all countries, even the non-war-affected ones, with a deadly neuro-toxin called Black Poison. Now you, former private James Harrolde, are the only one who can counter the Blackcloud before it's too late.

Levels Completed (even if in a beta state):
-Level 1: Layout done, bugs and gameplay being sorted out
-Level 2: Layout done, bugs and gameplay being sorted out
-Levels 3-12: Not done yet, still perfecting levels 1 and 2

Gameplay:
-You start in an alley escaping from Yilnawakee Military gaurds... (and yes, they speak english lol)
-Then you stumble upon an underground bunker
-(not releasing more)

I have a picture pack as to not crowd the thread much and because my pictures were too huge. I will post pictures occasionally.

First Picture:

I guess so... probably with a different texture on the entity.

The screenshots are looking pretty decent so far.

Yes, Aaagreen was correct. It is Dark Hazard's shader, just a little modified. I don't think I should've modified it though, because I kept having these wierd straight lines through the entity (attached).

Thanks for all the comments so far.

Wow man that modifications amazing. I get those lines too on the un-modded version of shader. You couldn't tell me how you did it could you?

To solve the problem I just made the water plane larger so it filled the room.

Making it bigger would most likely fix it, and trust me, you wouldn't want the modified shader for two reasons:

A) It totally went on me.

and

B) I deleted it after getting 'd off.

If you want the water shader, it is available here:

Yeah. But I'm no good at shaders at all. I think I was getting those lines, not because of me, but because of the way I placed the entities. My bad

Anyways, more screenshots...

I would change the graffiti texture on the wall in the first screen, because no such graffiti is repetitive like that.

EDIT: What motion blur files are you using? If it's X-Tasy, I could never get it working right.

It's Omega's. I tried X-Tasy, but it kept messing up my wall textures and overdosing the bloom.

The graffiti texture on the wall was a placeholder; I needed to find a good tiling texture to go along with it.

EDIT: Download available on first post! Have fun with the demo!

In .Calibre? I got the texture online at www.fpsc-portal.de... I know .Calibre, but I didn't take textures out of it or anything, or maybe that's not what you meant...?

But anyways, how's the demo working? That's not the actual level in the real game, it was just for a general idea of what the game is gonna be like.

EDIT: Why aren't people posting in this thread? I hate it when people look at threads but don't post. For some reason it drives me crazy lol! The more people read and post in this thread, the more I'll update my pictures and stuff.

EDIT (2): Why does this always happen to my threads? They get abondoned, and although they may get lots of views, no one posts or gives any really good criticism. This happened to my PR1MORDIAL game, it got over 1000 views, but wasn't popular. UGH!

Just played the demo and a there's a few things.

1/. You still have the trigger sounds in the trigger zones, you'll want to remove those as they play every time the player enters a trigger zone.

2/. After dying (from the two soldiers at the beginning) when I respawned the two soldiers just stood there looking like they've been frozen. Also the soldier at the top of the stairs was also motionless.

3/. Try to go easy on all the coloured lights.

Yeah, I know, I made a crapload of mistakes in the demo. Everything's changed now and a lot easier to play. Thanks for playing the demo, though.

I'm gonna have to do major scripting to fix these bugs. Thanks a bunch.

I like the demo so far. It was too dark in a few places to figure out movement (there seemed to be an invisible wall in one spot, but I'm not sure because it was so dark . . .), but otherwise pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing more.

Hmmm. Too dark? Yeah, I sent it to my friend and he said that it was way too disorienting. I'll change the ambience to maybe 5 or 10 instead .

LOL. I played a few more times and managed to find some glitches. Now that I know my way around, there's a really easy way to avoid the people in the first room. They never saw me or shot at me! Haha. In their faces. So, I was able to get to the gun without being detected. Of course, they're obviously hard to avoid if you don't know where they are the first time you play, which is why I even managed to get myself killed once. :}

And then I got this amusing glitch (see pic )with the guys stuck on the stairs when I got them to chase me down. Made it easy to head-shot them several times. But still, otherwise, I think you've got a good start.

However, my hubby nags over my shoulder that, if possible, the action key should not be "enter," because then you have to move one of your hands. meh meh meh.

Double post (again)! Yay, 50 posts, hopefully this'll get more views. I'll post more stuff if more people post....

Thanks for your support guys, I'm workin' on level 2 now...

PWP

EDIT: Screenies comin' in about 2 or 3 hours! I'm still perfecting level design and thinking about the environments... Thanks again.

EDIT 2: I need help with level 2! I had planned for you to come out of the bunkers and end up in a swamp where you find another Blackcloud generator, but it seemed so out of place! Now I'm thinking about the character still being in the bunker a little longer, but I still need help! Many thanks to any help you provide...

EDIT 3 (again): I'm almost finished with level two! I'm trying to get a stealth script working, and it's coming along great! I'd also like beta testers for level 1 to test it to the max for any bugs as this game hopefully will go commercial once we finish our custom media pack.
