I asked what software you used on ur other thread.

Anyway so u using 3ds max 9, good good . Actually Perfect

. Haha.. as i do too... Here is how to get automaticaly a uvmap. I never use this though, on complicated models. But this should be fine for less complicated ones.
Select your object.
If you have any vertex/face/edge selection mode on, please do it off.
Go to modifier tab, and brose to Unwrap UV.
Click on the + before the Unwrap UV and then select Face mode.
Press CTRL + A so you will select the whole object.
Click the edit button on your right side in you properties of you Unwrap Uv modifier.
Go to Mapping Toolbar and select : Flatten Mapping (also auto map = automaticaly uv map)
Leave Settings for as beginner.
Press Ok.
Done..
U uvmapped succesfully ur mesh.
U can render and save him by going to the Tools toolbar, and select Render UVMAP and play with settings i would deselect everything and put "Fill" color to white, other may be left alone as u deselected them.
u can change res by going from 1024 to 512 or i use most of the times 1024 but for scenes i use 2048 and for big open projects i use 4096. Anyway... That should do it i believe... Good luck, if u have problem please say, i am here to help.
