I'm new to scripting and editing. I know you can change what the message is from "Press Enter To Open" but how

Play it or don't, simple. No need to have a mardy.

Create a new HUD and replace it with the old one

I'll attempt to help.

Let's assume you place a door in your level and when you walk up to it, the hud displays as "Press Enter to Use". You want to change that to something different:

1. Look at the script dooruse.fpi on your system. On my system, it is located in the directory \Files\scriptbank\user\dooruse.fpi

2. View the script with either notepad or whatever application you use. Look at the line

:state=0:hudreset,hudx=50,hudy=90,hudimagefine=gamecore\text\pressentertouse.tga,hudname=usedoorprompt,hudhide=1,hudmake=display,state=10

The script is pointing to the hud in the gamecore\text directory.

3. Navigate to the following directory:

\Files\languagebank\english\gamecore\text\

You will see the file pressentertouse.tga which is the hud file the script uses. You can edit this file using GIMP, Photoshop, or whatever graphic app you use.

Hope that helps

Cheers
