I'm new to the forum, so I have a question about commercial games. I know what they mean, but is it when you download a game, pay for it, or both. I want to know because I'm planning on entering an upcoming game of mine in the FPSC Halloween contest and I got models from FPS-Files.com, so I want to make sure I don't make any mistakes copyright-wise.

BTW, Here's the models I got from FPS-Files, which I'm using:
Addictinit's Road Pack
CheeseCake's jeep
CheeseCake's Mansion
CheeseCake's Apartment
Burnt out car
Free Street Pack 12
Krovosos
Marble Sink
Rain & Snow pack
Heltor's Small Tree Pack
Toilet
Toilet Matt
Zizombie

Two good advices:

1.(mandatory)read the reamdme/license/terms of use .doc or .txt thats included in 90% of what you can download - as long its from any official FPS-related site.

2.(optional) Don't use anything thats not free for commercial use that needs explict permission/crediting etc. Its hard enough developing a game without thinking about copyroght issues.

PS: The same goes for sound, music etc. Only use stuff thats free for commercial use, there is enough available on the web.

In case you find my grammar and spelling weird ---> native German speaker ^^

A commercial game is when you sell it, not when you put it up for free download.

The krovosos is stolen from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. by the way.

So better not to use it, huh?
I was planning to use it as the final boss.

The zi-zombie is still not free of Half-Life 2 content, so I wouldn't use that either.

Its a good day to do what has to be done by me and help my brother to defeat the enemies
