Resident Evil 4: The Village (56k warning)

Update—11.11.09 (Day 1)

This is a small project I started last night just for fun. I’m obviously a big fan of the Resident Evil series, and Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite video games. So, I want to see if I can put together my own version of the village from RE4 in FPS Creator. Then if I can find the time, I’d like to take it one step further, and create my own FPSC chapter for RE4, and then release my version in the showcase.

So far, I’ve spent about two hours working on the first and second cabins in the screenshots below—using the actual game as a reference. And as always, I’m modeling in Blender, creating the textures in GIMP, and then exporting the models into FPS Creator to put together the scene. Later tonight I’m going finish the larger cabin, and then model the rest of the furniture for both of them. C&C welcome.

Shoot the one with the chainsaw...

Defiantly a great job and very similar to the actual resident evil 4 building.

Good job! Resident Evil is my favorite series also. I've passed the 4th game around 14 times and the 5th around 6 times . Though Resident Evil 5 can't be considered as a horror game anymore.

Yeah, a bit off topic. I'm very interested to see how you accomplish the village . Maybe do the Salazar Castle some day?

I dance in tune with what I fear to do adrenaline.

Very nice Kravenwolf, very nice.

The only thing you need now is a greasy haired blond man as the lead character and you're set!

Thanks for all of the positive feedback, guys. Tonight I'll post a few updated screenshots of the two finished cabins with all of their furnishings inside, and the catwalk that connects the two cabins' roofs. I'm also almost finished with the stable on the opposite side of the village, which I'll also share later tonight.

Looks very nice there are just a few things that bug me:

Some parts of the model itself looks like it has pictures placed on, some pieces dont blend to great and resemble a real house 100%. especially on the exterior i think, and the other thing i noticed was the roof, there seems to be a tad stretching going on which you may want to fix.

i really like this piece though, just thought i would offer some crits aswell.

i would love to see you try a non-horror piece next time by the way, break the mould if you will

Keep up the great work.

Wow man, this is a brilliant project you're working on here! And you've done a superb job so far, it looks nearly like an exact replica of the Resident Evil 4 models for sure. I'm really excited about watching progress on this continue and seeing the entire village expand here and come alive! Aside from the dilemma of what characters you'd use, I could very much see you being able to pull off a tribute game to RE4, and if you've thought about it, I think you should definitely go for it!

As for those models themselves, I really hope at some point in the future, you decide to either upload them to the GC Store, or if you produce enough models, enough to recreate an entire village! Perhaps you could fork out a deal and get this as an official model pack!

Keep it up man, top-quality work as always

Cheers

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

NO! Don't listen to that man!

I've never played RE before, but if it's that village with the cannibals, and you fight a giant leech-thing as a boss, then that's great! I look forward to the end result...

Oh pfft. What the heck are you trying to say. Kravenwolf can easily whip up models as great as these. I trust that he made these himself.

Click here. Now compare it to Kravenwolf's model. The textures are obviously different, and the style of the model is a bit different as well. He did not rip the models from RE4. Better luck next time.

Thanks for all of the comments guys. I didn't get a chance to work on this last night because I was trying to get some more work done for the VBOTB. But, tonight, I'll have some more screenshots ready.

Ya, it's still an early WIP

I will say there is a little flatterly in there thinking these are the actual models from RE4. But, I didn't rip these out of the game. If you've ever played the game, you'd see that they're not exact. And the textures can be found on CGtextures here, here, and here. As Gunn3r said, better luck next time.

Nah, but he'll spend 2 less hours on horror themed stuff that can easily be used to advance his already advanced horror making skills.

Yes but then you are limiting him to one thing hes best at, which means that he cannot improve on other aspects, plus i mean, would you not like to see how James can handle scifi or something?

@General Jackson, I'll do my best to have the demo out by the end of the year. I have so many other projects at the moment, I can't work on this every day as I originally planned

@Asteric, I've considered taking a shot at a sci-fi model pack one of these days, but horror is really the only place my interest lies. So if I do decide to start on a sci-fi pack, don't be suprised it you see a little Dead Space in it.
