I am Building a World (.x file) for my RPG game.
Does anybody know how many polygons should a world object have.

All depends on how you code it and what format you use. With good use of both you could probably do something along the lines of Vice City.

Good golly - that might take a while. Polygons? Well 125k ran at 20 fps on a 1.08 athlon (they were ALL on screen) so just think about that compared to your system, do some polygon tests, and you should get it

Just on this subject in pro is it a good idea to use the csg (or whatever) compiler command to make solid geometry from numerous x files to build a world?

If one big x file is used as a world does it put strain on the cpu as it is rendering a big object all at once?
