Thanks bro, your work is always appreciated

Hah, I remember the first time I actually noticed, along the side of the Entity list on fpsFREE, just how many of the models you'd created and given away for free. My jaw literally dropped

Cheers

Thanks for the comments, all.

Too long.... about six hours. I worked off a picture I found on TS for a similar model.

INFO: Made a correction to the handlebars on the UV and re-uploaded the file. The grips were missing.

Nice skoota'z, thanks.

For future reference: It makes it easier for us to animate a vehicle if the wheels are separate groups.
I'm not complaining, its just a suggestion for a little something early on that saves a lot of work later.
I see the front wheel looks separate mesh but not sparate in groups.
The rear wheel is part the the body mesh, so I can see you had no intent on animating it. (I do)
I think I can single out the front wheen then double it to make a new real wheel and adjust the mesh to get rid of the old one.
This will be fun, so thanks again!

I've never used that. (I'm using FragMOTION and MilkShape 3D)
Even with separate meshes, if they are grouped together then you have to manually select all the vertices to assign it to a group.
Then, you can select the separate mesh once it is its own group and not grouped together with the other mesh.
It is hard to get in to the vertices behind the fender, but its okay, its not that big of a deal.
I'm just saying that it makes it easier if the wheels of a vehicle are assigned as separate groups when they are created.
This scooter is nicer than the one in BFVN.

@CE,

If you'll shoot me an email (I don't see your email on the forum) I'll send you the ms3d mesh with all of the part separated and a full rear wheel. I'd love to see it animated.

Post it here and I will animate it as soon as I can squeeze it in. (this weekend if not b4)

Thanks xplosys!

I woke up this morning and separated the wheel in about 15 minutes, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
It still helps for future reference though to have the wheels separate for animating.
Anyway, I came back here to tell you not to worry about it, but I see it is already done. (didn't take you long either)
I should have looked here first this morning.
Thanks again, and I will go animate it now.

WOW
Now that is grouping! (you are fast)
I was just going to do the wheels, but now I am tempted to do crash animations and more, so this may take longer than I thought.

Edit
Here is a peek at basics...

I forgot to put the kickstand up. (I forget about it in real life too)
I'll keep working on it, because I need to make a script for this thing to show the animated states in action in game.
I experienced a texture assignment issue with the groups, so now the texture is off.
To be continued...

I think FPSfree should have a "recent downloads" section, so I don't have to root through all the files looking for file names I dont recognise, should I go looking for new stuff.

Jeku always gets drunk and tries to Moderate the ocean. Tirelessly slapping the waves as they roll in.

Cool! I really need to learn that thing you call animate. Old dog, new tricks... you know.

Aaagreen,

The newest files are always at the top of each category. I always add new files at the top. I hope that's what you mean. I keep the website going because I enjoy it, but not that much. If I had to put more work into it, I'm afraid it would stat to become a chore.

Somehow your second copy with all the groups had the UV map destroyed. (my end probably)
Dude, I tried to work out the texture, but that is my weak area. (took forever and it still is not right)
Anyway, aside from the textures, this is what it looks like rolling around.
I think I needed to use more angle when turning the front wheel though, because it is not that noticeable.

I think what makes the turns look stiff is that the bike doesn't lean. Anyway, it looks good. Love the sound effects. LOL

If you want I'll do another texture when you're done with it.

Your texture is fine, it is the mapping that got messed up, but yeah it will need to be remapped.
I was thinking about a lean to begin with and will probably add more angle and a lean.

Edit
I added the leaning and it did make a world of difference.

That looks very good!

Hmmm...the picture shows the scooter in some kind of drivers view. Would it be possible to make a hud of it, add some movement speed and noise via script and ride the scooter?

I'm sure it would be possible, but without a mod we run into the "free look" problem. The HUD follows everywhere you look and instead of riding the scooter it would look more like you were wearing it.

I've been playing with a third person view in stock FPSC (v1.15.03), which is what is shown when the scooter brushes the player's view and picks him up (video above)

I ran into another snag doing the animations.
Some guy ran up and took off on the scooter!
I got a picture though, so if anyone has any clues, let me know and I will try to get it back.

My bad, it was the player...

I can't get enough of this thing. (scooters are fun) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRtehyLJEGw
I have been wanting to experiment with mesh stashing to avoid the "can't teleport entities" problem.
This thing worked perfect, but as you can see I didn't chop the mesh up small enough.
Anyway, instant rider when in use no matter where you park it.

Edit
Thanks for the inspiration xplosys.
I am going to try the mesh stash thing in a slightly bigger housing.
I'm using Bond's Boss that I put on your scooter for scale.
Hence, the cruiser styled chopper...

Here is the scooter animated with 200 frames, but only 150 are set keyframes.

1-20 Idle Straight
21-40 Slow Straight
41-48 Fast Straight

51-70 Idle Left
71-90 Slow Left
91-98 Fast Left

101-120 Idle Right
121-140 Slow Right
141-148 Fast Right

That is in Milkshape which starts at frame one.
The assignment for the FPE file is like so...

0,19
20,39
40,47

50,69
70,89
90,97

100,119
120,139
140,147

Like I said before, I messed up the UV Map somehow, but I'm sure you can fix it.
I'm off now to try and get some kind of texture on that chopper.
Thanks again xplosys, and I didn't mean to go off topic or anything.
